Memory Work 1st Quarter See weekly update to be sure which memory you are supposed to say. WEEK 1 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. - John 1:14 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. - 1 John 1:3 Almighty Father, Bless the Word 1. Almighty Father, bless the Word which through Your grace we now have heard. Oh, may the precious seed take root, spring up, and bear abundant fruit. 2. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. WEEK 2 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, - Romans 3:23 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. - Matthew 5:48 Salvation unto Us Has Come 1. Salvation unto us has come by God s free grace and favor; Good works cannot avert our doom, they help and save us never. Faith looks to JEsus Christ alone, who did for all the world atone; He is our one Redeemer. 2. What God did in His Law demand and none to Him could render caused wrather and woe on every hand for man the vile offender. Our flesh has not those pure desires the spirit of the Law requires, and lost is our condition.

WEEK 3 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. - Romans 3:28 Salvation unto us Has Come 3. It was a false, misleading dream that God His Law had given that sinners could themselves redeem and by their works gain heaven. The Law is but a mirror bright to bring the inbred sin to light that lurks within our nature. 4. From sin our flesh could not abstain, sin held its sway unceasing; the task was useless and in vain, our guilt was ever increasing. None can remove sin s poisoned dart or purify our guileful heart so deep is our corruption. WEEK 4 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[ a ] Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23 I know that my Redeemer Lives https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skluzxqppze 1. I know that my Redeemer lives; what comfort this sweet sentence gives! He lives, He lives, who once was dead; He lives, my ever-living head. 2. He lives triumphant from the grave; He lives eternally to save; He lives all-glorious in the sky; He lives exalted there on high.

WEEK 5 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13 (ESV) Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. John 6:47 (ESV) My Faith Looks up to Thee - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogklmthf2to 1. My faith looks up to thee, thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine! Now hear me while I pray, take all my guilt away, O let me from this day be wholly thine! 4. When ends life's transient dream, when death's cold, sullen stream shall o'er me roll; blest Savior, then in love, fear and distrust remove; O bear me safe above, a ransomed soul! WEEK 6 Lift high the cross Refrain: Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adore his sacred name. 1. Come, Christians, follow where the Master trod, our King victorious, Christ the Son of God. 2. Led on their way by this triumphant sign, the hosts of God in conquering ranks combine. First Commandment and Meaning WEEK 7 Thou shalt have no other gods. What does this mean? We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things. Lift high the cross died. 3. Each newborn servant of the Crucified bears on the brow the seal of him who 4. O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree, your death has brought us life eternally. 5. So shall our song of triumph ever be: praise to the Crucified for victory!

Second Commandment and Meaning WEEK 8 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord, thy God, in vain. What does this mean? We should fear and love God that we may not curse, swear, use witchcraft, lie, or deceive by His name, but call upon it in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks. Lord, Keep us steadfast in your word - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n_61w4vakk 1. Lord, keep us steadfast in your Word; Curb those who by deceit or sword Would wrest the kingdom from your Son And bring to nought all he has done. 2. Lord Jesus Christ, your power make known, For you are Lord of lords alone; Defend your holy Church that we May sing your praise triumphantly. 3. O Comforter of priceless worth, Send peace and unity on earth; Support us in our final strife And lead us out of death of life. END OF FIRST QUARTER

Memory Work 2nd Quarter See weekly update to be sure which memory you are supposed to say. Third Commandment and Meaning WEEK 9 Thou shalt sanctify the holy-day. What does this mean? We should fear and love God that we may not despise preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred, and gladly hear and learn it. The Church s One Foundation 1.The church's one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord; she is his new creation by water and the Word. From heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride; with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died. 2.Elect from every nation, yet one o'er all the earth; her charter of salvation, one Lord, one faith, one birth; one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with every grace endued. WEEK 10 4th Commandment and Meaning Thou shalt honor thy father and thy mother [that it may be well with thee and thou mayest live long upon the earth]. What does this mean? - We should fear and love God that we may not despise nor anger our parents and masters, but give them honor, serve, obey, and hold them in love and esteem. 5th Commandment and Meaning Thou shalt not kill. WEEK 11 What does this mean? - We should fear and love God that we may not hurt nor harm our neighbor in his body, but help and befriend him in every bodily need

WEEK 12 6th Commandment and Meaning Thou shalt not commit adultery. What does this mean? - We should fear and love God that we may lead a chaste and decent life in words and deeds, and each love and honor his spouse. For All the Saints For all the saints who from their labors rest, Who Thee by faith before the world confessed, Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest. Alleluia! Alleluia! Thou wast their rock, their fortress, and their might, Thou, Lord, their captain in the well-fought fight; Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light. Alleluia! Alleluia! WEEK 13 7th Commandment and Meaning Thou shalt not steal. What does this mean? - We should fear and love God that we may not take our neighbor's money or property, nor get them by false ware or dealing, but help him to improve and protect his property and business Wake, Awake! "Wake, awake, for night is flying," The watchmen on the heights are crying; "Awake, Jerusalem, arise!" Midnight hears the welcome voices and at the thrilling cry rejoices; "Oh, where are ye, ye virgins wise? The Bridegroom comes, awake! Your lamps with gladness take! Alleluia! With bridal care Yourselves prepare To meet the Bridegroom, who is near."

WEEK 14 8th Commandment and Meaning Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. What does this mean? - We should fear and love God that we may not deceitfully belie, betray, slander, or defame our neighbor, but defend him, [think and] speak well of him, and put the best construction on everything. Now Thank we All our God Now thank we all our God with heart and hands and voices, Who wondrous things has done, in whom His world rejoices; Who from our mother's arms has blest us on our way with countless gifts of love and still is ours today. Oh, may this bounteous God through all our life be near us, with ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us and keep us in His grace and guide us when perplexed and free us from all ills in this world and the next! WEEK 15 9th Commandment and Meaning Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house. What does this mean? - We should fear and love God that we may not craftily seek to get our neighbor's inheritance or house, and obtain it by a show of [justice and] right, etc., but help and be of service to him in keeping it. On Jordan s Bank On Jordan's bank the Baptist's cry announces that the Lord is nigh; awake and hearken, for he brings glad tidings of the King of kings! All praise, eternal Son, to Thee whose advent sets Thy people free, whom with the Father we adore and Holy Spirit evermore.

WEEK 16 10th Commandment and Meaning Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his cattle, nor anything that is his. What does this mean? - We should fear and love God that we may not estrange, force, or entice away our neighbor's wife, servants, or cattle, but urge them to stay and [diligently] do their duty. Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus Come, Thou long-expected Jesus, born to set Thy people free; from our fears and sins release us; let us find our rest in Thee. Israel's strength and consolation, hope of all the earth Thou art, dear desire of ev'ry nation, joy of ev'ry longing heart. Born Thy people to deliver; born a child and yet a king! Born to reign in us forever, now Thy gracious kingdom bring. By Thine own eternal Spirit rule in all our hearts alone; by Thine all-sufficient merit raise us to Thy glorious throne. WEEK 17 Close of Commandments What Does God Say of All These Commandments? - He says thus : I the Lord, thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me, and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My commandments. What does this mean? - God threatens to punish all that transgress these commandments. Therefore we should dread His wrath and not act contrary to these commandments. But He promises grace and every blessing to all that keep these commandments. Therefore we should also love and trust in Him, and gladly do [zealously and diligently order our whole life] according to His commandments. Oh Come all ye Faithful O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant! O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem; come and behold Him born the king of angels; O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord! Highest, most holy, Light of Light eternal, born of a virgin, a mortal He comes; Son of the Father now in flesh appearing! END OF 2nd Quarter

Memory Work 3rd Quarter See weekly update to be sure which memory you are supposed to say. Chief of sinner though I be WEEK 18 Chief of sinners though I be, Jesus shed His blood for me; Died that I might live on high, Lived that I might never die. As the branch is to the vine, I am His and He is mine. Oh, the height of Jesus' love, Higher than the heav'ns above, Deeper than the depths of sea, Lasting as eternity! Love that found me--wondrous thought! Found me when I sought Him not. WEEK 19 John 3:16 For God so loved the world,[ a ] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. God Loved the World, so that He gave God loved the world so that He gave His only Son the lost to save, That all who would in Him believe Should everlasting life receive. Glory to God the Father, Son, And Holy Spirit, Three in One! To Thee, O blessed Trinity, Be praise now and eternally! WEEK 20 Baptism - Titus 3:5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, Baptized into Your Name Most Holy Baptized into Your name most holy, O Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, I claim a place, though weak and lowly, Among Your saints, Your chosen host.

Buried with Christ and dead to sin, Your Spirit now shall live within. My loving Father, here You take me To be henceforth Your child and heir. My faithful Savior, here You make me The fruit of all Your sorrows share. O Holy Spirit, comfort me When threat'ning clouds around I see. God's Forgiveness WEEK 21 Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Chief of sinner though I be Only Jesus can impart Balm to heal the wounded heart, Peace that flows from sin forgiv'n, Joy that lifts the soul to heav'n; Faith and hope to walk with God In the way that Enoch trod. Chief of sinners though I be, Christ is all in all to me; All my wants to Him are known, All my sorrows are His own. He sustains the hidden life Safe with Him from earthly strife. O my Savior, help afford By Your Spirit and Your Word! When my wayward heart would stray, Keep me in the narrow way; Grace in time of need supply While I live and when I die. Grow in Faith WEEK 22 2 Peter 3:18a But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. O God, our Help in Ages Past Our God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home: Under the shadow of your throne your saints have dwelt secure; sufficient is your arm alone, and our defense is sure. Before the hills in order stood or earth received its frame,

from everlasting you are God, to endless years the same. Promise of Heaven WEEK 23 John 14:2-3 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. Abide with me, fast falls Abide with me: fast falls the eventide; the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me. Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies. Heav n s morning breaks, and earth s vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me. Apostle's Creed 1st Article and Meaning WEEK 24 The First Article. Of Creation. I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. What does this mean? --Answer. I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my limbs, my reason, and all my senses, and still preserves them; in addition thereto, clothing and shoes, meat and drink, house and homestead, wife and children, fields, cattle, and all my goods; that He provides me richly and daily with all that I need to support this body and life, protects me from all danger, and guards me and preserves me from all evil; and all this out of pure, fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me; for all which I owe it to Him to thank, praise, serve, and obey Him. This is most certainly true.

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation! Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near, join me in glad adoration. Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him! All that has life and breath, come now with praises before Him! Let the Amen Sound from His people again; Gladly forever adore Him! AC 2nd Article and Meaning WEEK 25 And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. What does this mean? --Answer. I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned creature, purchased and won [delivered] me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, in order that I may be [wholly] His own, and live under Him in His kingdom, and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, even as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. This is most certainly true. Beautiful Savior Beautiful Savior, King of creation, Son of God and Son of Man! Truly I'd love Thee, truly I'd serve thee, Light of my soul, my Joy, my Crown. Fair are the meadows, Fair are the woodlands, Robed in flow'rs of blooming spring; Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer; He makes our sorr'wing spirit sing.

WEEK 26 AC 3rd Article and Meaning Of Sanctification. I believe in the Holy Ghost; one holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. What does this mean? --Answer. I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Ghost has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith; even as He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith; in which Christian Church He forgives daily and richly all sins to me and all believers, and at the last day will raise up me and all the dead, and will give to me and to all believers in Christ everlasting life. This is most certainly true. Jesus Shall Reign Jesus shall reign where'er the sun does its successive journeys run, his kingdom stretch from shore to shore, till moons shall wax and wane no more. People and realms of every tongue dwell on his love with sweetest song, and infant voices shall proclaim their early blessings on his name.

WEEK 27 Baptism 1st Part What is Baptism? --Answer. Baptism is not simple water only, but it is the water comprehended in God's command and connected with God's Word. Which is that word of God? --Answer. Christ, our Lord, says in the last chapter of Matthew: Go ye into all the world and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Alleluia! Sing to Jesus Alleluia! Sing to Jesus! His the scepter, his the throne; Alleluia! His the triumph, his the victory alone. Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion thunder like a mighty flood. Jesus, out of every nation, has redeemed us by his blood. Alleluia! Not as orphans are not we left in sorrow now; Alleluia! He is near us; faith believes nor questions how. Though the cloud from sight received him when the forty days were o'er, shall our hearts forget his promise, "I am with you evermore"? END OF 3rd QUARTER

Memory Work 4thQuarter See weekly update to be sure which memory you are supposed to say. WEEK 28 Baptism 2nd Part What does Baptism give or profit? --Answer. It works forgiveness of sins, delivers from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe this, as the words and promises of God declare. Which are such words and promises of God? Answer. Christ, our Lord, says in the last chapter of Mark: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. This is the Day the Lord has Made This is the day the Lord hath made,he calls the hours his own; let heaven rejoice, let earth be glad, let praise surround his throne! The Lord appears my helper now, my faith is not afraid of what the powers of earth can do, for heaven affords me aid. WEEK 29 Baptism 3rd Part How can water do such great things? --Answer. It is not the water indeed that does them, but the word of God which is in and with the water, and faith, which trusts such word of God in the water. For without the word of God the water is simple water and no baptism. But with the word of God it is a baptism, that is, a gracious water of life and a washing of regeneration in the Holy Ghost, as St. Paul says, Titus, chapter three: By the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost, which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ, our Savior, that, being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying. Holy God, we Praise Thy Name Holy God, we praise your name; Lord of all, we bow before you. Saints on earth your rule acclaim; all in heaven above adore you. Infinite your vast domain; everlasting is your reign.

WEEK 30 Baptism 4th Part What does such baptizing with water signify? --Answer. It signifies that the old Adam in us should, by daily contrition and repentance, be drowned and die with all sins and evil lusts, and, again, a new man daily come forth and arise; who shall live before God in righteousness and purity forever. Where is this written?--answer. St. Paul says Romans, chapter 6: We are buried with Christ by Baptism into death, that, like as He was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Joyful, Joyful we adore thee Joyful, joyful, we adore You, God of glory, Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flow'rs before You, Op'ning to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; Drive the dark of doubt away; Giver of immortal gladness, Fill us with the light of day! Thou art giving and forgiving, Ever blessing, ever blest, Well-spring of the joy of living, Ocean-depth of happy rest! Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Fountainhead of love divine: Joyful, we Thy heav n inherit! Joyful, we by grace are Thine! WEEK 31 Luther's Evening Prayer I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen Now the Light has gone away Now the light has gone away; Father, listen while I pray, Asking Thee to watch and keep And to send me quiet sleep. Jesus, Savior, wash away All that has been wrong today. Help me ev'ry day to be Good and gentle, more like Thee.

WEEK 32 Confession LSB pg 326 part 1 & 2 What is Confession?* Confession embraces two parts: the one is, that we confess our sins; the other, that we receive absolution, or forgiveness, from the confessor, as from God Himself, and in no wise doubt, but firmly believe, that our sins are thereby forgiven before God in heaven. What sins should we confess? Before God we should plead guilty of all sins, even of those which we do not know, as we do in the Lord's Prayer. But before the confessor we should confess those sins alone which we know and feel in our hearts. Crown Him with Many Crowns (verses 1 & 2) Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne; Hark! How the heav nly anthem drowns All music but its own! Awake, my soul and sing Of Him Who died for thee, And hail Him as thy matchless King Through all eternity. Crown Him the virgin s Son, The God incarnate born, Whose arm those crimson trophies won Which now His brow adorn: Fruit of the mystic rose, Yet of that rose the stem, The root whence mercy ever flows, The babe of Bethlehem.

WEEK 33 Confession pt 3 Which are these? Consider your place in life according to the Ten Commandments: Are you are a father, mother, son, daughter, husband, wife, or worker? Have you been disobedient, unfaithful, or lazy? Have you been hot-tempered, rude, or quarrelsome? Have you hurt someone by your words or deeds? Have you stolen, been negligent, wasted anything, or done harm? Crown Him with Many Crowns (verses 3-5) Crown Him the Lord of love! Behold His hands and side Rich wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified. No angel in the sky Can fully bear that sight, But downward bends His wond ring eye At mysteries so bright. Crown Him the Lord of life! Who triumphed o er the grave, Who rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save. His glories now we sing, Who died, and rose on high, Who died eternal life to bring, And lives that death may die. Crown Him the Lord of heav n! One with the Father known, One with the Spirit through Him giv n From yonder glorious throne, To Thee be endless praise, For Thou for us hast died; Be Thou, O Lord, through endless days Adored and magnified. WEEK 34 Confession pt 4 & 5 What is the Office of the Keys? The Office of the Keys is that special authority which Christ has given to His Church on earth to forgive the sins of repentant sinners, but to withhold forgiveness from the unrepentant as long as they do not repent. Where is this written? This is what St. John the Evangelist writes in chapter twenty: The Lord Jesus breathed on His disciples and said, Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven? Come, Thou almighty King Come, thou almighty King, help us thy name to sing; help us to praise. Father, all glorious, o'er all victorious, come, and reign over us, Ancient of Days.

You are DONE!
