North Stonington Christian Academy News Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. (Psalm 34:11) Our Christ Academy begins our 36 th year as a Christian School Ministry. With joy and thankful hearts we welcome returning and new families. We would like to honor several staff and faculty who will no longer be with us this year: Mrs. Carol Brown she was a Middle and High School math/science teacher who is moving back to Arkansas to be close to their family. Mrs. Jessica Kessler transitioning to a full-time school nurse position at Wheeler High School after 9 years here as part time school nurse. Mrs. Pam Beil she has been here more than 12 years as a teacher and has retired to spend more time with loved ones. Andy/Jamie Macek - spent much of the summer helping with many custodial/maintenance tasks and had signed the children up to begin at NSCA prior to finding out they needed to move away from the church/school. These have been faithful servants of the Lord being called to serve here and also each having had their children here as students. Please join us in prayer for them as they begin new chapters in their lives. May they each be blessed. Please thank the Lord for the way He displays His love and watch-care for NSCA as we welcome new highly qualified staff and faculty: Mrs. Jacqueline Swoops - a military wife and recent graduate of the University of Texas in Math/Science High School Education. She will assume Mrs. Brown s position. Ms. Ali Souza a registered nurse and formerly the school nurse at North Stonington Elementary School. She will begin as our nurse this fall. She is a former student and has a daughter in our PreK class. Mrs. Linda Chace - will begin the year team teaching with Mrs. Tonn grade 2-3. Mrs. Doreen Smith - will assume the Grade 5 teaching position combined with Grade 4 with Larry Adams teaching Bible and Science 4/5 while she teaches 7-11 th grade English. Mrs. Kara Sisk - will return to NSCA part time. Ms. Starr Wilkes - will assume the part-time custodial position which was open when Andy Macek moved to Texas. Thank you to all who pray for the Academy each day. Pam Wilkinson Director NSCA 3

In the Mix Jackie Gengarella has given us her recipe for zucchini bread to enjoy. Great idea for this time of year when everyone is loaded with zucchini! Zucchini Bread Preheat oven to 350 degrees Mix together and put aside the following: 3 cups of flour ¼ tsp. baking powder ½ cup nuts (optional) 1 tsp. salt 3 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking soda Mix the following together: 3 beaten eggs 2 cups of peeled and grated zucchini Then add: 1 cup oil 2½ cups sugar 3 tsp. vanilla Mix lightly but well, add the dry ingredients and mix together well. Makes 2 loaves Bake for 1 hour in 2 greased and floured loaf pans. I am the bread of life. Your Fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world. (John 6:48-51) 16
