APRIL 1, 2018 CHURCH OF THE VISITATION PAGE THREE PASTOR NOTES - HOLY WEEK AND EASTER The celebration of Holy Week is central to the entire Liturgical Year. We celebrate our central belief in the Resurrection. At the heart and center of our faith is the belief that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became man to show God s Love for us; to show us the way to His Father and to show us a way of life. Sin can blind us to the truth. Christ s life, death and resurrection show us the true path. On Palm Sunday, we recognize who Christ was, with the procession of palms, and we echo the disciple s chant: Hosanna to the Son of David! And yet, a few moments later, with the crowd outside the palace of Pilate, cry out, Give us Barabbas. On Holy Thursday, the beginning of the Triduum, we celebrate the establishment of the Eucharist and Priesthood, which is central to the spiritual life of the Church. Good Friday commemorates our Lord s Passion, His choice to die for us, rather than condemn us. Holy Saturday celebrates the Sacrament of Baptism, a reminder that our faith begins with death to our old way of life and a resurrection to the new life that Jesus has won for us. On behalf of the parish staff and myself, we pray that this Holy Week and Easter will be one of spiritual growth for all of you. May this Easter bring you true joy and new life. Msgr. EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD SESSIONS OF FAITH Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) is for students in first grade through middle school and includes Sacrament preparation, and Baptism for unbaptized children. Classes are held on Sundays from 9:15 am 10:45 am.
