YOUTH MINISTRY COACHING PROGRAM

PROGRAM OVERVIEW www.theyouthcartel.com/ coaching "The Youth Ministry Coaching Program was transformational, both personally and professionally." Todd Freneaux, Executive Director, Jeremiah Project Critical thinking and theological reflection are extremely important for youth workers who don t merely want to perpetuate the way things have been done in the past. However, thinking and reflection are merely one portion (though a significant one) of what will help youth workers stay true to their calling and also grow in maturity and effectiveness. Emotional, relational, and spiritual health are essential to long-term impact. The Youth Ministry Coaching Program is designed to provide both an opportunity for critical reflection and discussion of youth ministry issues, but also to provide a safe place to experience holistic growth. In most ways, this program will surpass the training that can be offered by seminars and conventions. It will even surpass the experience of formal education. This is specifically due to the structure of the program (a small cohort with accountability, safety, and shared shaping of the content), as well as the content of the program (thoughtful youth ministry dialogue, real life application, customized personal development, emotional honesty, and spiritual direction).

PROGRAM OVERVIEW Contact Us info@theyouthcartel.com a whole-life coaching program rooted in leadership development, personal and professional growth, and wholeness STATS Launched in 2010 with 9 people Cohorts held in more than a dozen cities in the US and Canada More than 400 youth workers graduated Youth workers who are full time, part-time. and volunteers in both church and non-profit roles Participants from a dozen different denominations Ages from 24-60+ years old; nearly 90% of participants are between 27-44 years old Experience 1 year to 30+ years in youth ministry From churches with an attendance of less than 100 people to over 20,000 people More than a third of participants have been women, including 4 "women's only" cohorts

WHO WE ARE www.theyouthcartel.com/ coaching Cartel [kahr-tel] noun - a coalition or cooperative arrangement between parties intended to promote a mutual interest. The Youth Cartel s mission is to encourage and challenge adults who minister to youth through holistic professional coaching, strategic consulting, transformational events, and inventive resource development that advance youth ministry in new ways. We kill them with love. YOUTH WORKERS SERVED ANNUALLY 6000+ YMCP GRADUATES 400 The Youth Ministry Coaching Program is the single most helpful resource I've found in over 30 years of professional youth ministry. While conventions, workshops, and seminars are influential and necessary, The Youth Ministry Coaching Program is a much more personal and personable resource for anyone wishing to understand and struggle with the ins and outs of professional ministry. The spiritual direction, values assessments, readings, discussions, personal sharing, and presence-minded shepherding led by Mark Oestreicher encompass all parts of life not just youth ministry. Sam Halverson

MEET OUR COACHES Contact Us info@theyouthcartel.com The Youth Ministry Coaching Program is worth a decade of conferences. Kevin Libick Charlie Conder Lead Coach Brian Wallace Lead Coach Mark Oestreicher: Partner Marko started The Youth Cartel to provide a variety of help and resources to individual youth workers, and to organizations (churches and ministries) that want to connect with youth workers. His wife of 32 years, Jeannie, and his two young adult kids, Riley and Max, keep him grounded and humble.

OUTCOMES www.theyouthcartel.com/ coaching What is different in your ministry since you ve graduated? My ministry is more authentic, it s better organized, it has roots. I feel reinvigorated to serve our students more. It flipped a switch within me that I have needed help in switching. I don't know fully yet what the switch was, but it has really changed me. Travis Overbeck I approach interpersonal issues within leadership better. My marriage is healthier which leaves me feeling more balanced and able to invest in my job in a more meaningful way. Jenni Pavon My health as a leader. What I learned about boundaries during the program has changed my marriage, my balance of work and life and has made me more effective as a youth worker. Wes Trevor I would have left my church had it not been for the Youth Ministry Coaching Program. I'm now the pastor at one of our sites (we're a multi-campus church), but never would have even pursued this position had I not been able to identify my own calling and values. Russ Polgrove

Contact Us info@theyouthcartel.com OUTCOMES After completing the Youth Ministry Coaching Program, participants will have had the following experiences and opportunities: Grow in understanding their strengths and weaknesses; how these impact their leadership, ministry, and personal lives; and how to lead in their strengths and manage their weaknesses in healthy ways. Experience new spiritual growth and insight as they safely process their own journey and the integration of their personal lives with their professional lives. Train in a wide variety of youth ministry issues, with an opportunity for dialogue and contextual application. Receive customized action steps based on participants input and unique needs. Develop life-long youth ministry peer relationships of trust and accountability. Read books in preparation for every gathering, discuss them, and determine action steps for their lives and ministries. Take advantage of opportunities to share ministry questions and needs to the group in areas of their own choosing, with feedback and recommendations from the group. Work through a series of self-selected homework assignments, with input from the group and their coach, and report back on their progress. Engage one personal coaching session per month with their cohort coach (some in person and some via phone). Participate in spiritual direction sessions at cohort gatherings with a trained spiritual director. (Available with some cohorts.) Receive a Certificate of Completion upon finishing the program. Gain exclusive opportunities and access for YMCP graduates for ongoing relationship, training, and development.

MORE ENDORSEMENTS Contact Us info@theyouthcartel.com It s hard being a youth worker. It s especially hard being a female youth worker. Since I began my career in youth ministry, I ve lost track of often I ve felt alone. That s one of the reasons why I appreciate The Youth Cartel so much. They re constantly investing in women by providing us with unique training opportunities like this conference and resources written by women, both of which make me feel a little less alone. The Youth Cartel does so not just because it s good for business, but because it s good for the church. Jen Bradbury The Women in Youth Ministry Cohort was exactly what I needed in this phase of my ministry journey. I had been looking for something like this for a long time and as soon as I hear about this cohort, I knew this was an answer to prayer. Being a part of this cohort for the last few months has been a breath of fresh air and such an encouragement to me in my personal life and ministry context. This is an opportunity I would recommend for any woman in a youth ministry role, especially to those who find themselves serving in an area where they aren t many other females in ministry to connect with on a regular basis. Jessica Charney There s really no way to overstate the value of the Youth Ministry Coaching Program. The interaction with a cohort of dedicated and creative youth ministry leaders is invaluable, and the one-on-one coaching and spiritual direction grounds the learning in practices and actions. It s the most valuable youth ministry development opportunity I ve ever had. Rocky Supinger

www.theyouthcartel.com/ coaching MORE ENDORSEMENTS The Youth Ministry Coaching Program has been the best and most helpful professional development I have experienced in my 14 years of youth ministry. The love and support I have received not only from Marko but all the other members of the cohort have helped me to not only be a better youth minister but also a better husband, father, and Christian. I have recommended this program to every youth minister I know! Shawn Kiger The Youth Ministry Coaching Program proved to be an incredible year of growth for me. Not only was I uplifted and affirmed, but also challenged and inspired! This was time well spent and helped to continue to shape me into the person God has created and called me to be! Leigh Randall The Youth Ministry Coaching Program put a new zip in me spiritually and a new zing in my ministry with youth. I have been in youth ministry a long time but old dogs can learn new tricks. The support, resources and friendships made helped me turn the light to my calling back on bright. Diane Jones What the Youth Ministry Coaching Program provides is more than training. I was also lovingly challenged and humbly affirmed in a nurturing and supportive atmosphere. With my cohort, there was laughter, tears, shoulders to lean on, and debates; but most of all, there was love among us. I am not only a better youth minister because of my experience, I am a better person. Ed Stallworth

Contact Us info@theyouthcartel.com MORE ENDORSEMENTS I was hesitant to join this cohort because I felt it would overlap with my master s program in youth ministry. In actuality, it has turned out to be the perfect compliment! This cohort has encouraged me to reevaluate and improve my whole health spiritual, physical and emotional so that I can best minister to others. Marko s wit is deceptive and masks a truly sharp mind. He is quickly able to hone in on the root issues, offer you the opportunity to make tough choices about self and ministry and guide you to resolution. Being able to bond and share with my cohort members is icing on the cake. Truly a God-send. Kimberly Clarke The Youth Ministry Coaching Program was truly a gift from God. I grew a tremendous amount personally and professionally. The people in my cohort were such a blessing! This was a safe place to share my heart, be loved just for being me and be transformed. I highly recommend it to anyone who works with youth! Cindy Vestal If you re looking for the absolute best experience in how to stretch you and your ministry then the Youth Ministry Coaching Program is for you. I have learned more in the past 6 months in this hands-on approach than in 4 years of seminary and grad school. It has been the best thing I have done both personally and professionally. Robb Gossen
