NORTHERN GREAT LAKES SYNOD Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Marquette, Michigan ngls@nglsynod.org E-Notes for March 15, 2016 The Season of Lent QUOTE OF THE DAY "Every liturgical year, the church gathers for an intensive mediation in Christian identity. The liturgies of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Vigil of Easter - with their intensive hearing, singing, washing, eating, and praying - school us as cross and resurrection people. The days' readings and rituals may not change from year to year, but we have changed in the past year. The worship meets our changed identities, re-forming us into Christ's body for the sake of the world." - p. 114 "Sundays and Seasons" ELCA CHURCH COUNCIL --- NOMINATIONS Our 2016 Synod Assembly will be nominating two lay males from our synod to be voted upon at the Churchwide Assembly this summer for the ELCA Church Council. the ELCA Church
