Processional Hymn: #378 CROWN HIM WITH MANY CROWNS Please stand & sing Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne: hark, how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own! Awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity. Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o'er the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save. His glories now we sing who died and rose on high, who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die. Crown him the Lord of peace, whose power a sceptre sways from pole to pole, that wars may cease, absorbed in prayer and praise. His reign shall know no end; and round his pierced feet fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet. Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side, rich wounds yet visible above, in beauty glorified. All hail, Redeemer, hail! for thou hast died for me; thy praise shall never, never fail throughout eternity. The Gathering of the Community Leader: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. People: And also with you. Leader: Almighty God, All: to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Collect of the Day Please kneel or be seated Leader: Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore all things in your wellbeloved Son, our Lord and King, grant that the peoples of the earth, now divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his gentle and loving rule; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. All: Amen. Reader: A Reading from the Book of Jeremiah. Please be seated Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says the Lord. Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who shepherd my people: It is you who have scattered my flock, and have driven them away, and you have not attended to them. So I will attend to you for your evil doings, says the Lord. Then I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the lands where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply. I will raise up shepherds over them who will shepherd them, and they shall not fear any longer, or be dismayed, nor shall any be missing, says the Lord. The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. And this is the name by which he will be called: The Lord is our righteousness. Reader: The word of the Lord. Jeremiah 23.1-6 People: Thanks be to God. A moment of silence is observed Canticle 19: The Cantor sings the refrain, all repeat Please remain seated & sing Cantor: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; he has come to his people and set them free. He has raised up for us a mighty Saviour, born of the house of his servant David. the refrain.

Cantor: Through his holy prophets he promised of old, that he would save us from our enemies, from the hands of all who hate us. He promised to show mercy to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant. the refrain. Cantor: this was the oath he swore to our father Abraham, to set us free from the hands of our enemies, free to worship him without fear, holy and righteous in his sight all the days of our life. the refrain. Cantor: You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way, to give his people knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins. the refrain. Cantor: In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace. the refrain. Reader: A Reading from the Letter of Paul to the Colossians. Please be seated May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers all things have been created through him and for him. He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross. Reader: The word of the Lord. Colossians 1.11-20 People: Thanks be to God. A moment of silence is observed Sequence Hymn: #619 FAIREST LORD JESUS The first three verses are sung before the Gospel. Fairest Lord Jesus, ruler of all nature, O thou the Godhead's human son: thee will I cherish, thee will I honour, thou my soul's glory, joy, and crown. Please stand & sing Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands, robed in the blooming garb of spring; Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer, who makes the troubled heart to sing. The last two verses will be sung; after the Gospel. Fair is the sunshine, fairer still the moonlight, and fair the twinkling, starry host; Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer than all the angels heaven can boast. All fairest beauty, heavenly and earthly, wondrously, Jesus, is found in thee; none can be nearer, fairer, or dearer than thou, my Saviour, art to me. The Gospel Leader: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Leader: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke. All: When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. [Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing. ] And they cast lots to divide his clothing. but the leaders scoffed at him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Messiah of God, his chosen one! The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine, and saying, If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself! There was also an inscription over him, This is the King of the Jews.

One of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding him and saying, Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us! But the other rebuked him, saying, Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong. Then he said, Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. He replied, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise. Leader: The Gospel of Christ. Luke 23.33-43 All: Sermon Please be seated The Nicene Creed Please stand Leader: Let us confess our faith as we say, All: We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. The Prayers of the People Please kneel or be seated Leader: As we gather in the presence of our King, in peace, let us pray to the Lord, singing, All: Lord, have mer - cy

Leader: For the holy Church of God, for our Bishops, Colin and Jenny, and for... that the Church may be filled with truth and love, that our divisions may cease, and that all may be one as you and the Father are one, we pray to you, O Lord. All: Lord, have mercy. Leader: For the peace of the world, which a spirit of respect and forbearance may grow among nations and peoples we pray to you, O Lord. All: Lord, have mercy. Leader: For the poor, the persecuted, the sick, and all who suffer; for refugees, prisoners, and all who are in danger; that they may be relieved and protected, we pray to you, O Lord. All: Lord, have mercy. Leader: For all who have died in the communion of your Church, and those whose faith is known to you alone, that, with all the saints, they may have rest in that place where there is no pain or grief, but life eternal, we pray to you, O Lord. All: Lord, have mercy. Leader: Rejoicing in the fellowship of Blessed Virgin Mary, St. John the Baptist and all the saints, let us commend ourselves, and one another, and all our life to Christ our Lord. All: To you, O Lord our God. Leader: Almighty God, All: you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications to you, and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together you will hear their requests. Fulfil now our desires and petitions, as may be best for us, granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come eternal life; for you, Father, are good and loving, and we glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, in the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen. Confession and Absolution Please kneel or be seated Leader: Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God s forgiveness.

Leader: Most merciful God, All: we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen. Priest: Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. People: Amen. The Peace Priest: The peace of the Lord be always with you. People: And also with you. Please stand At this time we pass the alms basins to receive your offering. We share from the blessings of our lives so that we may bless and minister to the needs of others. Offertory Hymn: #380 O WORSHIP THE KING O worship the King, all glorious above; O gratefully sing his power and his love; our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days, pavilioned in splendour and girded with praise. O tell of his might, O sing of his grace, whose robe is the light, whose canopy space; his chariots of wrath the deep thunder clouds form, and dark is his path on the wings of the storm. Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light; it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, and sweetly distils in the dew and the rain. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail; thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end, our maker, defender, redeemer, and friend.

Offertory Sentence The Celebration of the Eucharist Priest: All: Eternal God, by your grace you have raised us up and enthroned us with Christ in the heavenly realms. Receive all we offer you this day, and lead us in those good works for which you have created us. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen. Priest: We give you thanks and praise, almighty God, for the gift of a world full of wonder, and for our live which comes from you. By your power you sustain the universe. Glo - ry to you for-ev - er and ev - er!

Priest: You created us to love you with all our heart, and to love each other as ourselves, but we rebel against you by the evil that we do. In Jesus, your Son, you bring healing to our world and gather us into one great family. Therefore, with all who serve you on earth and in heaven, we praise your wonderful name, as we sing, Sanctus - - - - - - - - - - - - Ho-ly Ho-ly Ho - ly Lord, God of pow-er and might; Heav'n and Earth are full of your glo - ry, Ho - san - na in the high - est. Bless-ed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; Ho - san - na in the high - est. Son, to us you showed us how much you love us you showed us how much you love us. He cares for the poor and the hungry. He suffers with the sick and the rejected. Betrayed and forsaken, he did not strike back but overcame hatred with love. On the cross he defeated the power of sin and death. By raising him from the dead you show us the power of your love to bring new life to all your people. : Glory to you forever and ever Priest: On the night before he gave up his life for us, Jesus, at supper with his friends, took bread, give thanks to you, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat it: this is my body which is given for you. After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine, said the blessing, gave it to his friends, and said, Drink this, all of you: this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which is shed for you and for many, so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me. : Glory to you forever and ever

Priest: Gracious God, with this bread and wine we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus, and we offer ourselves to you in him. Send your Holy Spirit on us and on these gifts, that we may know the presence of Jesus in the breaking of bread, and share in the life of the family of your children. : Glory to you forever and ever Priest: Father, you call us to be your servants; fill us with the courage and love of Jesus, that all the world may gather in joy at the table of your kingdom. We sing your praise, almighty Father, through Jesus, our Lord, in the power of the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. All: Glo-ry to you for-ev-er and ev-er! A - men. The Lord s Prayer unaccompanied

Priest: I am the bread which has come down from heaven, says the Lord. All: Give us this bread for ever. Priest: The gifts of God for the People of God. People: Thanks be to God. Agnus Dei take a Lamb of God, Lamb of God, you - way the sin of the world, have mer - cy, have mer - cy on us. take a Lamb of God, Lamb of God, you - way the sin of the world; grant us your peace. Grant us your peace.

The Communion All baptized Christians are invited to receive Holy Communion. Please come forward to the Altar rail and stand or kneel as you prefer. Communion Hymn: #385 WORSHIP THE LORD IN THE BEAUTY Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; bow down before him, his glory proclaim; gold of obedience and incense of lowliness bring, and adore him: the Lord is his name! Low at his feet lay thy burden of carefulness; high on his heart he will bear it for thee, comfort thy sorrows, and answer thy prayerfulness, guiding thy steps as may best for thee be. Fear not to enter his courts in the slenderness of the poor wealth thou canst reckon as thine; truth in its beauty and love in its tenderness, these are the offerings to lay on his shrine. These though we bring them in trembling and fearfulness, he will accept for the name that is dear, mornings of joy give for evenings of tearfulness, trust for our trembling, and hope for our fear. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; bow down before him, his glory proclaim; gold of obedience and incense of lowliness bring, and adore him: the Lord is his name! Communion Hymn: #628 O LOVE, HOW DEEP, HOW BROAD, HOW HIGH O love, how deep, how broad, how high! It fills the heart with ecstasy, that God, the Son of God, should take our mortal form for mortals' sake. God sent no angel to our race, of higher or of lower place, but wore the robe of human frame for us, and to this lost world came. For us he was baptized, and bore his holy fast, and hungered sore; for us temptations sharp he knew; for us the tempter overthrew. For us he prayed, for us he taught, for us his daily works he wrought; by words and signs, and actions, thus still seeking not himself but us. For us by wickedness betrayed, scourged, mocked, in purple robe arrayed, he bore the shameful cross and death; for us at length gave up his breath. For us he rose from death again, for us he went on high to reign, for us he sent his Spirit here to guide, to strengthen, and to cheer. To God whose boundless love has won salvation for us through the Son, to God the Father, glory be both now and through eternity.

Choir Anthem Prayer after Communion Priest: Almighty God, you have made us a royal priesthood in the kingdom of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Make known his victory through us, we pray, that all the world may see his light. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. All: Amen. Priest: Glory to God Please stand All: whose power working in us can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen. The Blessing & Announcements Recessional Hymn: #379 REJOICE, THE LORD IS KING Rejoice, the Lord is King! Your Lord and King adore! Rejoice, give thanks and sing and triumph evermore. Lift up your heart, lift up your voice: rejoice; again I say, rejoice! Jesus the Saviour reigns, the God of truth and love; when he had purged our stains, he took his seat above. Lift up your heart, lift up your voice: rejoice; again I say, rejoice! His kingdom cannot fail; he rules o'er earth and heaven; the keys of death and hell are to our Jesus given. Lift up your heart, lift up your voice: rejoice; again I say, rejoice! He sits at God's right hand till all his foes submit, and bow to his command, and fall beneath his feet. Lift up your heart, lift up your voice: rejoice; again I say, rejoice! Rejoice in glorious hope; Jesus, the judge, shall come and take his servants up to their eternal home. We soon shall hear the archangel's voice; the trump of God shall sound, rejoice!

Dismissal Priest: Let us bless the Lord. Alleluia! People: Thanks be to God. Alleluia! All music is reproduced under CCLI #11166483.
