Prayers 4 A Prayer Before Mass Loving Father, as on my earthly pilgrimage I come to receive Your beloved Son under the veil of a sacrament, may I one day see Him face to face in glory, who lives and reigns with You for ever and ever. Amen. A Prayer After Receiving Holy Communion Anima Christi Soul of Christ, be my sanctification; Body of Christ, be my salvation; Blood of Christ, fill all my veins; Water of Christ's side, wash out my stains; Passion of Christ, my comfort be; O good Jesus, listen to me; In Thy wounds I fain would hide; Ne'er to be parted from Thy side; Guard me, should the foe assail me; Call me when my life shall fail me; Bid me come to Thee above, With Thy saints to sing Thy love, World without end. Amen. A Spiritual Communion Prayer for those unable to receive the Eucharist My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. Hail, Holy Queen Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears! Turn, then, O most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. V: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. R/: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. LITANY TO ST. JOSEPH We invite you to pray this at home during the month of March. When this litany is prayed in public, the congregation responds to a leader with the words in italics. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Christ, hear us. Christ, graciously hear us. God, the Father of Heaven, have mercy on us. God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us. God the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us. Holy Trinity, One God, have mercy on us. Holy Mary, pray for us (after each line) Saint Joseph, Renowned offspring of David, Light of Patriarchs, Spouse of the Mother of God, Chaste guardian of the Virgin, Foster-father of the Son of God, Diligent protector of Christ, Head of the Holy Family, Joseph most just, Joseph most chaste, Joseph most prudent, Joseph most strong, Joseph most obedient, Joseph most faithful, Mirror of patience, Lover of poverty, Model of artisans, Glory of home life, Guardian of virgins, Pillar of families, Solace of the wretched, Hope of the sick, Patron of the dying, Terror of demons, Protector of Holy Church, Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Spare us, O Lord. Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world, Graciously hear us, O Lord. Lamb of God, who take away the sins of the world, Have mercy on us. V. He made him the lord of His house: R. And ruler of all His substance. Let us pray. O God, who in Thine unspeakable providence didst vouchsafe to choose blessed Joseph to be the spouse of Thine own most holy Mother: grant, we beseech Thee, that we may deserve to have him for our intercessor in heaven, whom we reverence as our defender on earth: who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.

Parish Consultation in Preparation for the Synod of Bishops The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and in the Contemporary World Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has called together two synods or meetings of representative bishops from throughout the world to consider the family. The first synod took place last fall, and the second will take place this coming October. Our own Archbishop Cupich has been named as an alternate delegate to the synod. As he prepares to offer a perspective to his fellow bishops in the United States and in turn to the Synod Office preparing for the November meeting in Rome, Archbishop Cupich wants to hear the voice of the people of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Consider using this brief survey to help him prepare for his work. If you wish please write your thoughts to the questions below and return them to the parish office and they will be forwarded to Archbishop Cupich. The full documentation, called the Lineamenta or guidelines, along with discourses by Pope Francis and two articles, can be found at the archdiocesan website: www.archchicago.org. Parish Consultation Form From the Office of the Archbishop How has family life been a grace or a blessing from God for you? In what way does our American culture at this historical moment help or hinder our families from being the families that God wants them to be? In your experience, what are the main challenges that families face today? How can we as a Church respond to those challenges? Can you suggest ways that parishes can include and be more available to those who might be overlooked when we consider family life, for example, single people, the widowed, single parents, divorced or separated, those who identify as gay or lesbian, and others? The chart above shows the St. Thecla offertory collections fiscal year-to-date through January. A reference to last year s January year-to-date collection and to the January 2015 year-to-date budget is also shown. Monthly electronic giving (ParishPay) is included in the totals above. Stewardship of Treasure We have fallen $31,411 short of our fiscal year-to-date collections budget through January. Disappointingly, our January fiscal year-to-date collections were $26,060 lower than the same period last year. A message from the Finance Council: Please use your weekly contribution envelopes or consider enrolling today in ParishPay our electronic giving option to consistently prioritize your support of our parish. More than half-way through this fiscal year, the Sunday weekly collections continue to fall well short of the budget that we established. Also concerning is that - in total, our collections are running lower than last fiscal year. Will you help us begin to narrow this budget gap? We need to maintain the momentum of the great financial progress we made in recent years. Have you missed a donation that you can catch up on? Are you able to increase your Sunday contribution this year if you haven t done so already? Thank you for giving this your consideration. We are thankful for your continued generosity and we appreciate your active support for this gift of our parish!

St. Thecla School Lenten Project to Help the Poor Our 3rd and 5th graders are working together to help those in need. As a special service project, students perform good deeds and collect items to help out the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels, located in the Humboldt Park area. Our students learn that we can grow closer to Jesus by doing kind acts for others. Visiting someone who doesn't have many visitors, doing extra housework for a parent, reading to a younger brother or sister, saving spending money in order to support to a good cause, and helping a neighbor with a chore are all kind acts that "make a difference." On their Lenten activity page students will color in a stone and record their daily good deed. After the student reaches a stepping stone marked with an x, they will have earned the opportunity to make a special donation. Students will be encouraged to bring in an item to school to help this worthy cause. Our special collaboration project started Ash Wednesday and will conclude Holy Thursday. Mr. Cerjak and Mrs. Herrmann The new doors on the school look great! The generous and tireless work of the Athletic Council, St. Thecla Women s Club and the Family School Association made this possible. Our sincerest thanks!!!!
