CALL TO WORSHIP - I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord. Those who believe in me, even though they die, shall live. And everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ whose great mercy gave us new birth into a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The inheritance to which we are born is one that nothing can destroy or spoil or wither. When this symbol (*) precedes an element of the service, please rise in body or spirit. *PROCESSIONAL HYMN No. 326 For All the Saints *CALL TO CONFESSION SINE NOMINE We lay before God our own sins, the sins and brokenness of our fellow worshipers, the church universal, and the world. *CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION Eternal God, in every age you have raised up men and women to live and die in faith. Forgive our indifference to your will. You have commanded us to speak, but we have been silent. You have called us to do what is just, but we have been fearful. Have mercy on us, your faithless servants. Keep before us faithful people for us to follow, so that living with courage and love, we may inherit the kingdom promised in Jesus Christ, and reign with him forever. *SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Hear my prayer, for unto thee all flesh shall come. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory, liberate the souls of all the faithful departed from the pains of hell and from the deep pit; deliver them from the lion s mouth; let not hell swallow them up, let them not fall into darkness. Sacrifices and prayers of praise, O Lord, we offer to thee. Receive them, O Lord, on behalf of those souls we commemorate this day. Grant them, O Lord, to pass from death unto life, which once thou promised to Abraham and to his seed. Sanctus Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth. Pleni sunt caeli et terra Gloria tua. Hosanna in excelsis. Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts. Heaven and earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem. Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis sempiternam requiem. Merciful Lord Jesus, grant them rest. Merciful Lord Jesus, grant them eternal rest. Pie Jesu Agnus Dei Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis requiem. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis requiem. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis sempiternam requiem. Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, grant them rest everlasting. May light eternal shine upon them, O Lord, in the company of thy saints forever and ever; for thou art merciful. Rest eternal grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Deliver me, O Lord, from death eternal, on that dreadful day: when the heavens and the earth shall quake, when thou shalt come to judge the world by fire. I am seized by trembling, and I fear until the judgement should come, and I also dread the coming wrath. O that day, day of wrath, day of calamity and misery, momentous day, and exceedingly bitter. Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Deliver me, O Lord, from death eternal, on that dreadful day: when the heavens and the earth shall quake, when thou shalt come to judge the world by fire.
In paradisum In paradisum deducant te angeli: in tuo adventu suscipiant te Martyres, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam pauper aeternam habeas requiem. May the angels lead you into paradise; may the Martyrs welcome you upon your arrival, and lead you into the holy city of Jerusalem. May a choir of angels welcome you, and, with poor Lazarus of old, may you have eternal rest. Our response to hearing God s Word includes singing and saying what we believe. RESPONDING TO THE WORD *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH - from A Brief Statement of Faith In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen. PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING The prayer of thanksgiving incorporates the names of members who have died during the preceding year.

And because your mercy will not fail us then, grant that we rise to life everlasting in your prescence; for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
