Your Financial Stewardship For the week ended June 26, 2016 Weekly Joyful Giving Envelopes... $ 19,877.00 Offertory Collection...... $ 1,300.00 Budgeted Weekly Joyful Giving $23,500 God s providence aligns persons in interesting ways. Upon coming to Green Bay there have been a number of these alignments that have been particularly striking. One is that Sr. Caroline and I share an anniversary date. Sr. Caroline took her solemn vows on July 10 th and I was ordained a priest on July 10 th. So if you see her in the coming week, wish her a blessed anniversary and thank her for all the dedication and love she has given to our people. It is also my mom s birthday, so as a dutiful son, I will spend some time with her. We often have a Mass out at the Carmelite Monastery in Denmark, Wisconsin. The Carmelite sisters have been praying for me since I was a senior in high school. I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve here with all of you. I received a card from the Schmitt family thanking us for the dedication of Bishop Hall to our second pastor, Bishop Mark Joseph Schmitt. The card is from his sister Marge and his many nieces and nephews who joined us. Marge was in happy spirits as she recalled the goodness of her brother who longed to be a parish priest. A picture of Bishop Mark Schmitt will be placed in the Hall soon. The family wrote the following: Dear Father Mark and the St. Bernard Parish Community, Thank you for honoring our beloved uncle, Bishop Mark, in such an awesome way! The dedication of St. Bernard s multipurpose center in his name is an amazing tribute in his memory of what a wonderful person and priest he was! We are all so deeply touched by your thoughtfulness and kind words! Thank you for taking the time to invite all the Schmitt family to this very special occasion in your parish! Thank you again for choosing our uncle, Bishop Mark, to be honored in such a beautiful way! We are all so grateful! God bless you! Margaret Georgia and Schmitt Family Summer is upon us and we will pray that it holds until its proper close. Remember to seek out a parish for Mass if you will be traveling. Though not always easy, it does give the heart a certain gratitude on vacation if you have made the effort to find a Mass to attend. I have found that the vacations that I have remembered my prayers have made for a more enjoyable experience, happier memories and peace of heart. If you can still remember our parish in your stewardship offerings, even while you are away, that would be a super gift. Again, prayers for a good and safe summer to our travelers! Lastly, I know I have said this before but I want to thank you all again for the great support of the parish Bishop s Appeal. What a blessing to have come so far with our goal. Not only do we help the greater church but we relieve a great amount of stress from our parish. Our generosity was stunning. Fr. Mark Vander Steeg
