The 8 th Arab Regional Conference took place in Kuwait 28 February- 7 March 2016 The countries represented by delegations in Kuwait Conference were : Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Qatar. In total 200 members participated. Page 2
ISGF Chairman Mida Ridrigues and Vice Chairman Wahid Labidi were present and addressed to the participants Egypt will be hosting the 9th Arab regional Conference in 2019 and Tunisia is alternate New Committee members elected are dr Ahmed Thani Aldossari from UAE dr Isa Jassim Sayyar from Bahrain mr. Fethi Farghali from Egypt NSGF OF UAE and Qatar have formally joined the Arab region Mida Rodrigues interacted with all NSGF representatives and provided guidance and information about ISGF activities and future events Wahid Labidi discussed with UAE NSGF chairman pending issues on their draft constitutions. ARAB REGION The Arab world is considered an area of the world that encompasses the region from the Atlantic Ocean near northern Africa east to the Arabian Sea. Its northern boundary is at the Mediterranean Sea, while the southern portion extends to the Horn of Africa and the Indian Ocean. This area is tied together as a region mainly because all of the countries within it are Arabic speaking. ISGF Arab Region consists of the countries in the Arab world that are Full or Central Branch (CB) Members of ISGF. At present, there are no Associated (AMO) Members in the Region. Full Members: ALGERIA, BAHRAIN, EGYPT, JORDAN, KUWAIT, LEBANON, LIBYA, MOROCCO, SAUDI ARABIA, TUNISIA. CB Members: SUDAN, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (UAE) United Arab Emirates have recently applied to become ISGF Full Member and its application is currently examined by ISGF World Committee Legal Team. ARAB REGION SUB REGIONS MAGHREB MACHREK GOLFE ARAB MAGHREB SUB REGION (AMSR) It Is part of the Arab Region and its members presently are the National Scout and Guide Fellowships (NSGFs) of Maghreb: Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, ( and in the future) Mauritania It was founded by 4 countries in Tunisia in May 2015 at a Constituent Conference In March 2016 a Maghrebian Committee meeting was held in Kuwait Next Conference of Maghreb will be held in 2018 in Morocco 1 st Maghreb Committee Meeting in Tunisia May 2015 Maghreb Committee meeting in Kuwait (March 2016) Page 5
HISTORY: In December 1984 the Arab Union of the Former Scouts & Guides was founded In 1999 it was recognised as ISGF Region In 2001 the name of the Union changed to Arab Union of the pioneers of Scouts and Guides Founded on the year 1984 and formed its Constituent body of the Arab Union of former Scouts and Guides, initiative of the of Former Muslim Scouts in Lebanon, which prepared the draft statute of the Union and raised in the period of the Arab Scout Conference 16 th in Muscat, Oman, Mr. Jamal Khashba of Egypt's was elected President of the Constituent body, Prince Yousef Dandan from Lebanon as secretary General, Mr. Hassan Dubian from Jordan treasurer, Gentlemen Abduslam Albrnocy from Morocco, Dr. Faiek Thbob from Palestine and Salah Aldin Rezek Alswasi from Egypt as members and Dr. Abdulah Omer Nasief Honorary President. Due to civil war in Lebanon, the Constituent chose Amman, Jordan as host Country of the General Secretary of the Arab Union of the Former Scouts & Guides. In 1995, during the first General Conference of the Union, which was held at the International Scout centre in Cairo, some provisions of the Constitution were amended and, thanks to the improved general situation in Lebanon and the end of the civil war, the Conference decided to move the headquarters of the Secretariat General from Amman to Beirut on a permanent basis pursuant to the provisions of the Statute. In 1998 during the second General Conference of the Union, which took place in the center of the Arab Scout, the Constitution of the Union was amended. On November 18, 1999, the organization Union of Arab Former Scouts and Guides was recognised and considered as the ISGF Arab Region. In 2001, during the Third General Conference of the Union, which was held in Beirut, Lebanon, the Constitution was amended and consequently the name of the Arab Union for Former Scouts and Guides changed to the Arab Union of the pioneers of Scouts and Guides.
