Dear Parishioners, On this fourth Sunday of Easter, we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday. In the Gospel, we are reminded that Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He came to teach us about God s love and gather us all into the sheepfold. We are His sheep and as a shepherd is present to protect his sheep from the dangers that surround them, He comes to protect us from the dangers that surround us. He is willing to lay down His life for our sake and as His followers, we are called to lay down our life for those that we encounter. Those who are parents are the shepherds of their children and are here in this world to teach, guide, support, and protect them. Like Jesus the Good Shepherd, parents should be willing to lay down their life for their children. Jesus is our ultimate example of the good shepherd, but we also have the saints and especially the martyrs as examples to follow. The martyrs sacrificed their lives for the sake of living and teaching the Gospel message and that is what we are called to do. I encourage all parents to not only follow the example of Jesus in guiding your children but also choosing a particular saint that emulates the type of parent you would like to be. In choosing this saint, you can ask this particular saint to walk with you and to give you the strength and courage that you need to be an effective shepherd of your child or children. Fr. George The Society of St. Vincent de Paul 2nd Collection on weekend of April 28th and 29th The Society of St.Vincent de Paul would like to thank you for your generosity which provides assistance for the needy and suffering in our area, many of whom are experiencing financial crises and are in danger of becoming homeless. On April 28th and 29th, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be having a 2nd collection. Any contribution will be very much appreciated.
