Last week I went to another specialist for a second opinion. He wants to try the procedure again. It has two parts. It is called a radial branch block and then a radiofrequency ablation which serves to deaden the nerves in the spine to relieve the pain. I have deteriorating joint and disk disease. The lowest disk in my spine is completely herniated and the doctor does not recommend surgery for that particular issue. With all the pain, the doctor has put me on eight pain killers a day which make me feel nauseated and disoriented and also very tired and sleepy. I am not able to do very much at this point. If this other procedure works, it will relieve the pain and I can get off of these pills. I have to be careful driving at this point because I get so sleepy. I have seen four different doctors recently for all of my issues - my primary care doctor, a rheumatologist, and two pain specialists. I miss being at Our Lady of Fatima but under the circumstances I needed to do just that. Deacon Ron
