The Adventist Review online recently published an article Endangered Adventism, painting a bleak outlook for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America. There's no doubt that there is serious competition for the hearts and minds of young people in North America, but are they truly that close to disappearing from our churches? The membership management team at eadventist responds. The Desmond Doss Council produced and mailed a Bible study booklet to all Seventh-day Adventist churches in North America as an opportunity to follow up on the Hollywood movie, "Hacksaw Ridge." This is an easy-to-read, 32-page study guide with unique WWII stories that capture interest then lead into an easy-to-follow Bible study with follow-up discussion questions. The Doss Council asked Dick Stenbakken, long-time Army chaplain and former director of Chaplaincy Ministries for the GC, to author the booklet. Click here for more info. "United Prayer" refers to collaborating believers lifting their prayers to God as a unified body. The power of prayer is magnified in a community setting, standing shoulder to shoulder as thanks, concerns, and requests are presented to the Heavenly Father. This handbook, "Praying for Rain," discusses the roots of united prayer as described in the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy, as well as suggestions for leading a group in a season of united prayer. "A chain of earnest, praying believers should encircle the world," (Reflecting Christ, p. 121). Download this mini-handbook as a PDF. Thankful Through the Storm "When we think of thanksgiving we think of [thanking God for] good things after we've come through the storm. But we are called to give thanks for everything, the good and the bad. Not everything that happens to us is good, but it is for our good. 'In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you'" [1 Thess. 5:18].
