Team members are: Warren Patterson, Laura KcKenzie, Duane Wells, Nirav Shah, Philippa (Pip) Bolton, Damien Dixon. The team was welcomed with a get together dinner at the Machine Shed on Sunday night. Monday we were all hosted by John Maxwell at his farm home. The Team members were treated to a tour by John. Our Friends from down under have continued the tradition set by our Australian friends when they were introduced to Templeton Rye in Dubuque. Sadly the two ladies had a severe case of food poisoning, along with Damien. GET WELL! This picture of Damien, Laura, and Pip show the fun loving group that they are. Dougal Nelson Newest Member Rotary Club of North Scott Dougal Nelson is our newest member. He was proposed by President Becky Bray. Dougal works at Habitat for Humanities QC. Membership Proposals These two people have been approved by the Board of Directors and the Classification Committee, for membership into North Scott Rotary. Paul J. Holzworth has been proposed by Bill Tubbs. He is a retired teacher and contractor. Paul retired from teaching in 1996 with a total of 33 years of service at 4 different schools. From 1996-2009 he was a contractor, and has also retired from that. Paul was born & raised in Montana and went to college at the University of Nebraska and the University of Iowa. He is married to Marguerite and they have 3 grown children. His hobbies are fishing, gardening, golf, woodworking and attending plays and concerts. He is also active in the Princeton Theatre and St. John s Methodist Church. Greg Schaapveld has been proposed by Carolyn Scheibe. He is a civil engineer with Shive Hattery, Inc. He graduated from Iowa State in 2006 and has been with Shive Hattery ever since. Greg was born & raised in Muscatine, Iowa and is married to Kendra. They have a young son. His family is very close and live in the house that was built by his grandparents. Julian loves to play soccer and fist ball (only played in Germany). He plans to become a lawyer and attend college in Berlin. The current Pope is from Germany, a lot of automobiles are made in Germany and the MP3 format was developed in Germany. Atomic energy will be replaced by wind energy in Germany by 2020. 6.3 visitors come to his country for the Oktoberfest which begins in late September. It is a wonderful party for all! Dougal Nelson became the newest member of our club on Friday. He is the Director of Development for the Habitat for Humanity QC. His sponsor is Becky Bray and he was inducted by Past President, Charlie Jones. Dougal was glad to donate $5 in honor of the grant given to Habitat for the purchase of mowing equipment for their properties. Seventy attended on Friday, including Iowa Quad City Rotarians, Dave Borcherding and Doug Peterson. Also, Lou Peterson (host mother of Julian) and potential members Greg Schaapveld, Paul Holzworth and Todd Gullickson. Other guests were Dr. Nancy Kime, guest of Fred Mulch, Jerry Trimble, guest of Jan Trimble and our own exchange student, Mikel Ursúa. Keith Mattke volunteered to be the song leader and Eric Langan was the last minute sergeant of arms. Eric collected $42 in fines, which included fines for Todd Gullickson and Nate Kessler for being late. Also Steve Powell got to pay for all his years as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Pat Olsen gave $10 so he could tell about his success in raising money for the Illinois Special Olympics Polar Plunge that he participated in the previous weekend. The 4 Way Test Of the things we THINK SAY or DO 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
