21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING GUIDE 21 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING 1 ST - 21 ST NOVEMBER 2013 WEEK 2 - MONDAY 11 TH - THURSDAY 17 TH OUR CHURCH PLANTS IN THE INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS AND PRISONS MINISTRY DAY 11 MONDAY 11 TH PERI-URBAN CHURCHES Ephesians 4:11,12 And He Himself gave some to be Apostles, some Prophets, some Evangelists, and some Pastors and Teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Commit the Pastors we have trained in this past year to God. We have sent them to occupy positions in churches we planted in the informal settlements. This year we have managed to walk with eight church planters who have gone out and established churches among the following communities: four in Kibera, one in Kangemi, one in Kariobangi and another one in Karatina. We also have a pastor who is currently preparing for a church plant in the Kiserian outskirts. These pastors are working in communities that do not have adequate resources and face the challenges of helping their congregants navigate through life. Let us ask God for wisdom for these leaders and also for their families to have strength to stand with them. Let us also pray for the team that is administrating our church planting efforts in this sector. We are trusting God to complete a registration process that will enable us to offer legal as well as spiritual cover to these churches that would otherwise lack such oversight. PRISONS MININSTRY Luke 10:27 So He answered and said, You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your

21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING GUIDE neighbour as yourself. Please pray for our ministry at the Jamhuri Short-sentence Prison where we hold worship services every Sunday from 8:30 am 10:30 am. The Lord has faithfully continued to do His work in the lives of the inmates and a lot of transformation is being experienced. Additionally, pray for the success of an upcoming Medical Camp that we have scheduled on 23rd November to be conducted at the prison in partnership with TrekMedic, a medical organization from Melbourne, Australia. DAY 12 TUESDAY 12 TH EFFECTIVENESS OF A MINISTER Psalm 78:72 And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them. Pray for the many pastors who are involved in the church-planting effort, that God would help them to be relevant to their targeted group. We desire that God would sharpen their leadership skills by which they can influence and impact the community. Pray that they will be men of integrity, full of the Holy Spirit and competent in all their endeavours and that God will help them to connect and have meaningful relationships and partnerships for kingdom exploits. Also pray that God will bless them and their families with good health and long life, that they may raise up a godly generation. DAY 13 WEDNESDAY 13 TH UPCOMING EVENTS Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. VERITAS CONFERENCE Psalm 119:104-106 Your commandments give me understanding no wonder I hate every false way of life. Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. I ve promised it once, and I ll promise it again: I will obey your righteous regulations. Nairobi Chapel is holding its first Bible conference in two weeks. We are thankful to God for the favour we have experienced in the course of planning for this conference. Let us give thanks for the different speakers who will be joining us,i.e. Pst. Tim Ayers, our Plenary Speaker and Doug Perrigin who are coming from our partner church Grace Community Church, Indiana. Pray for safety as they travel next week. Also give thanks for the speakers from other churches within the city i.e. Rev. Dr. Karita Mbagara of CITAM-Karen, Pst. Bob Kikuyu of

21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING GUIDE Life Spring Chapel, Rev. Tom Otieno of ACK St. Luke's Church, Pst. Phoebe Muthami of Daystar University, Rev. Elizabeth Kamau, Dr. Steve Rassmussen of Africa International University and our very own Pst. Oscar Muriu. Pray for members of the congregation who will be spending the three conference days studying scripture and that all who desire to attend will be available. Also pray for the team organizing the conference, that everything would fall into place and that the Spirit of the Lord would bless the study of His Word. Please pray that the words of 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, would be true for all who attend. EDGE CONFERENCE There is need for good leadership in Kenya, and so Nairobi Chapel is organizing a conference dubbed the Edge Conference in February 2014. Pray that the conference will train, equip, and develop leaders. VIRAL CONFERENCE During this conference, pray that we will have a good turnout of pastors and facilitators attending our Viral Church-planting Conference in June 2014. Pray that God will use them mightily. Finaly, let s pray for the small groups conference in March 2014 at Kileleshwa Community Covenant Church. Also thank the Lord for the great transformation that has been seen through the various activities that the church has been involved in. Pray for their worship leader, Naomi Kimani who is undergoing Cancer treatment in India, that the Lord will give her quick recovery. Pray for the training of the Community Life Group starting on the 24th November. WEEK 3 FRIDAY 15 TH - SUNDAY 17 TH CHURCH IN KENYA John 17:21 I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I in You. May they also be in Us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. The church in Kenya needs to realize that even though we have many denominations with diverse forms of worship, we still make up the one body of Christ. When God looks at us He sees one Church that His Son died for. We must realize that the world needs to see the Church exemplifying their love and unity in Christ. DAY 15 - FRIDAY 15 TH THANKSGIVING The Church in Kenya has grown in leaps and bounds, take time to thank God for the

21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING GUIDE 50 years of freedom of worship and for the many souls that have come to Christ. Also give thanks for the many who are responding to the call of God to ministry. Thank God for the way the church has been involved in the development of communities through providing, institutions of higher learning e.g. KeMU University, Daystar, St. Paul s University and Baraton University. The church has also been instrumental in the reconciliation of communities involved in tribal conflicts. The church has been vocal to the government through such clerical personalities as the Late Rev. David Gitari, Rev. Timothy Njoya and Rev. Mutava Musyimi. May God raise even more bold ministers of the Gospel who will stand as voices of social justice of the nation. DAY 16 SATURDAY 16 TH MINISTERS REFORMATION 2 Corinthians 1:13,14 And I hope that, as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand us fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus. 2 Corinthians 2:17 unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary in Christ we speak before God with sincerity like men sent from GOD. 2 Corinthians 1:12 Now this is our boast our conscience, testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so, not according to worldly wisdom but according to God s grace. For we do not write to you anything that you cannot read or understand. 1 Peter 5:1-4 To the elders among you I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ s sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: be shepherds of God s flock that is under your care serving as overseers-not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be: not greedy for money but eager to serve: not loading it over those entrusted to you but being examples to the flock. And when the chief shepherd appears he you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. Today we centre our prayers on church reformation, and this must begin at the church leadership. Let us pray that leaders will conduct themselves in holiness, sincerity and grace just as the apostle Paul did in his time 2 Corinthians 1:12 For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.

21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING GUIDE Pray also that ministers of the Gospel will not peddle the Word of God for profit, but that they will speak for God with all sincerity as men and women who are accountable to God 2 Corinthians 2:17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God. And that ministers of the Gospel will be willing shepherds of the sheep under their care; not greedy for personal gain, but ready servants. Not lording it over those entrusted to them but being examples to the believers 1 Peter 5:1-4 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God s flock that is under your care, watching over them not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. Also pray that believers will be delivered from the deception of false teachers whose aim is personal profit and not enhancing the kingdom of God. Pray also that these leaders will avoid shameful behaviour, that they will neither try to defraud anyone nor distort the Word of God to suit selfish ends, but will focus on telling the truth of God 2 Corinthians 4:2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone s conscience in the sight of God. Pray that the ministers will not go about preaching about themselves, but they will preach that Jesus Christ is Lord 2 Corinthians 4:5For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants[a] for Jesus' sake. Lastly, let us intercede for the preachers and all believers to stand firm in Christ, because He has anointed and set His seal of ownership on them, and given them His Spirit 2 Corinthians 1:21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. DAY 17 SUNDAY 17 TH AWAKENING OF THE CHURCH Matthew 10:40-42 He who receives you receives Me and he who receives me, receives the one who sent me. Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophets reward and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is righteous man, will receive a righteous man s reward. The Church has lately been going through a test of authenticity. This places us at a

21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING GUIDE very critical season in this Year of Jubilee. Pray that we, the Church, will stand in the gap during this season and play our role. We need to recognize that we have sincere servants amongst us who are still in God s service. Take time to pray that the Church will not dishonour those whom the Lord has placed over us. Take time to pray for the spirit of discernment to distinguish between the authentic and false prophets who seek to take advantage of God s flock. Pray that the Church will mature in their walk of faith, and develop the fruit of the Spirit.
