NEHEMIAH CHALLENGE Nehemiah lived in Persia because most Jewish people had been forced from their homes when Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 B.C. What sad news did he hear about his homeland? Read Nehemiah 1:3. What might have happened if Nehemiah had tried to rush off to Jerusalem right away to fix things by himself? What did he do instead? Read Nehemiah 1:4-11. What promise does God give His people if they humbly pray and confess their sins? Read 2 Chronicles 7:14. How did God use the king of Persia to help answer Nehemiah s prayer? Read Nehemiah 2:1-6. PRAY Heavenly Father, we praise You that we can come to You for all of our needs. Help us wait patiently for Your answers. In Jesus name, amen.
NEHEMIAH COURAGE When Nehemiah encouraged the Jewish leaders to rebuild Jerusalem s walls and gates, how did they respond? Read Nehemiah 2:16-18. What did Nehemiah do when his enemies mocked him and plotted to hurt him? Read Nehemiah 4:1-4; 6:9. Does everything always go smoothly when we obey God? Read John 16:33. What should we remember if things seem to go wrong? Read Matthew 14:27. What did Nehemiah tell the people would be their strength? Read Nehemiah 8:10. PRAY Dear God, help us trust in You whenever we face difficult times. Please fill us Your joy, which is our strength! Amen.

He created the universe and has power over everything in it; so why did He allow Himself to be killed by the people He came to save? Read John 1:10-13 and John 3:16-17. Do you know any people who need your love and understanding, even though they may not act like they want it? Read Galatians 6:9. PRAY Dear Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross and forgiving my sins. Help me share Your love and kindness with others. Amen.
