August 19-20th Sunday in Ordinary Time Wise Fools Back high school, we learned that the word sophomore came from Greek words meaning "wise fools." The idea was that second year students think they knows it all now, but still have a lot to learn. The first two readings invite us to a banquet of wisdom. Jesus says he himself is the way to understanding God's will; he gives himself as food and drink for eternal life. So how will we accept these invitations to partake of the Wisdom of God? One way is to read the scriptures every day, taking time to think and pray about what you read. Don't do all the talking; give God the chance to be heard. The Gospels are especially good "food" because of all the examples Jesus gave in his sermons and parables. Listen to the readings and homily at Mass. The preacher may have some insights that make you think. Receive Communion often to be fed with the living Bread. The Church has always taught that we are fed with both the word and the Eucharist. If we want to grow in God's wisdom, we have to exercise our faith. If you have a friend or relative who is a good example of faith, talk with that person about how you experience God or your lack of experiences. You could offer to be a sponsor for someone in the RCIA, and help someone else's faith to grow. Your parish or diocese may also have on-line resources or discussions. God never intrudes on anyone by force. To grow in God's Wisdom, we have to accept it. Ask God for real food and you won't be disappointed. But be patient. God only gives what we are ready to receive. August 30 6 to 9 p.m. St. Joseph Catholic Academy 2401 69th St. Kenosha 262-654-8651 Received from St. Vincent de Paul Society Dear St. Anne parishioners, Thank you for hosting another Bundle Sunday. As always you help us to continue to assist those in need with your valued gift. May the Lord bless you as you have blessed His poor. Help us Help Others Do you or someone you know have a vehicle to donate? If you donate it to the St. Vincent de Paul Society you will greatly increase funding for those in need. The average vehicle donated generates about $600 in net proceeds. That $600 could help someone in need meet their monthly rent payment, provide food for their family, or pay for critical nutrition for an infant. You may also have a sizable income tax deduction for a charitable donation. The St. Vincent de Paul National Vehicle Donation Program will make the process simple, and the money generated by the sale will be distributed locally. What a great opportunity to help those in need in the spirit of St. Vincent. For more information about this program, please go to the St. Vincent de Paul Kenosha website at: http:// stvincentdepaulkenosha.com/2011/05/25/support-thenational-vehicle-donation-program/ THAT MAN IS YOU is a new MEN'S PROGRAM starting on Thursday, September 13th. Wherever you are in your spiritual life, this program will meet you there. Join men just like yourself facing the day-to-day issues of the real world. A polished DVD presentation will clearly break down the problems and address them through the three wisdoms of the church. The first year's focus will be on men s leadership roles, especially within the family. The program consists of a 30 minute DVD presentation and 30 minute small group discussion. Breakfast & coffee will be served at 6:00 a.m., the program will start at 6:20 and end promptly at 7:30 a.m. Sign up at a table after mass, or online at www.thatmanisyou.org. For more info contact Mike Nuzzo at 262-515-4836 or mike.nuzzo52@gmail.com CUSH Part-time Organizer Position CUSH (Congregations United to Serve Humanity) has received a promise of a significant grant for the coming year, which will make it possible for us to hire a part-time Community Organizer. The organizer would be responsible for helping to grow the organization and recruit and train leaders. CUSH is an interfaith, not-forprofit organization which seeks to bring diverse people together to work for the common good. The organizer would be expected to attend meetings and events, to do one-on-one outreach and lead training and planning sessions. If interested, please send resume to cushkenosha@gmail.com by September 4th.

5th Family 5K Fun Run/Walk To benefit Kenosha s Frank Neighborhood Project St. Anne s is proud to announce the 5 th annual Family 5K Fun Run/ Walk in support of Kenosha s Frank Neighborhood Project. The event will be held September 22 nd, 2012 at 8:30a.m. at the Lake View Rec Plex in Pleasant Prairie, WI. The 5K is a community fellowship activity designed for family participation at an affordable cost. The goal is to enjoy a family activity with fellow parishioners while raising money for a local cause. The mission of the Frank Neighborhood Project is to provide help and hope to Kenosha s inner-city families who are exceptionally challenged by a lack of economic opportunities and single family homes. Frank Elementary School, the Kenosha YMCA, and the Kenosha County Sheriff s Department have united efforts to strengthen families through programs and activities that are designed to address the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of local residents. We are inviting parishioners to serve as a community partner through run/walk participation, volunteering or helping with a business donation in a monetary or in kind form. In appreciation of company sponsorships logos will be placed on the back of the 5K t-shirts. If you are interested in registering for the event or would like to volunteer or make a donation, please look for the registration/volunteer booth following Sunday masses or reach out to fellow parishioners Justin and Melissa Konkol at konkoljp@gmail.com and KonkolMS@gmail.com. Stewardship The Flowers of the Field Campaign is still growing strong. Current numbers indicate that nearly 200 families are participating THANK YOU for your $224,000 in pledges! We ve deposited $123,646 of those gifts already, helping the bank lenders to know we re serious about keeping St. Anne and keeping our parish in the black. Please know that we re praying for the 700 remaining families in our parish to be moved by the Holy Spirit to action, to generosity, and we ask all bulletin readers to do the same. The Lord listens to YOU! If you did not have the opportunity to participate in the Building Fund Appeals in 2001 and 2005, now is your opportunity to contribute to the creation of this church.
