1 2011 Childrenʼs Sacrament Meeting Presentation Program I Know the Scriptures Are True For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them (2 Nephi 4:15) Primary President: Brief introduction of 2011 Primary theme. Scripture Power (Primary children singing as they walk to the rostrum) 1. Because I want to be like the Savior, and I can, Iʼm reading His instructions, Iʼm following His plan. Because I want the power His word will give to me, Iʼm changing how I live, Iʼm changing what Iʼll be. Chorus: Scripture power keeps me safe from sin. Scripture power is the power to win. Scripture power! Evʼry day I need The power that I get each time I read. 2. Iʼll find the sword of truth in each scripture that I learn. Iʼll take the shield of faith from these pages that I turn. Iʼll wear each vital part of the armor of the Lord, And fight my daily battles, and win a great reward. (Repeat Chorus) GROUP 1: 2 Nephi 32:3, Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do. The Scriptures Are the Word of God Feasting upon the words of Christ means to read the scriptures like we are really, really hungry to learn what Jesus said. * The teachings in the scriptures help me know whatʼs right and wrong. My favorite scripture story is the Ten Lepers. ***(Ask him to tell what it teaches him) The scriptures teach you the commandments and then you follow them and become closer to the Savior. I have learned about praying, fasting, taking the sacrament, and tithing in the scriptures. The scriptures are holy books and I can pray to Heavenly Father to know that they are true.
2 If I listen really carefully, I can hear the Saviorʼs voice when I read the scriptures. If I Listen with My Heart - (Flute Obligato) 1. If I had been a little child when Jesus lived on earth, I would have liked to walk with Him and listen to His words, But as I search the scriptures I can hear His words of peace, And if I listen with my heart I hear the Saviorʼs voice. 2. I hear a living prophet speak the things that Christ would say if He were here upon the earth to talk with me today, The prophet teaches how to live in righteousness and peace, And if I listen with my heart I hear the Saviorʼs voice. 3. I feel the Holy Spirit as he teaches truth and right, He comforts me in times of need, He testifies of Christ, He speaks to me in quiet ways that fill my soul with peace, And if I listen with my heart I hear the Saviorʼs voice. GROUP 2: VAL 9B: Moses 1:39, For behold, this is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. The Scriptures Teach of Heavenly Fatherʼs Plan Itʼs important to make a plan and follow it so you donʼt mess up. Heavenly Fatherʼs plan for us in the scriptures. I know I am a son of Heavenly Father. Jesus created the earth and butterflies for me. I lived in heaven before I was born. Now I live with my family. They protect me. Families are so important in Heavenly Fatherʼs plan because they keep you really safe. I will follow Godʼs plan by obeying my mom. I am a child of God. I feel happy when I keep His commandments.
3 GROUP 3: I Will Follow Godʼs Plan My life is a gift; my life has a plan. My life has a purpose; in heavʼn it began. My choice was to come to this lovely home on earth And seek for Godʼs light to direct me from birth. I will follow Godʼs plan for me, Holding fast to His word and His love. I will work, and I will pray; I will always walk in His way. Then I will be happy on earth And in my home above. What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken,... whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same. - D & C 1:38 Heavenly Father Speaks to Us through His Prophets I listen to the prophet at General Conference and I can read what he says in The Friend and New Era. I follow the Prophet by obeying my parents. I follow the Prophet by paying my tithing. Following the Prophet can keep us safe because you donʼt get addicted to anything. I like to bear my testimony. I know this church is true. I know Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. 4 GROUP 4 VAL 10A: VAL 9B: VAL 9B: VAL 9B: VAL 9B: VAL 9B: The 3 rd Article of Faith, We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. Jesus Christ Is My Savior and Redeemer Heavenly Father presented a plan in heaven before we came to earth. Jesus Christ was chosen to be our Savior. The Savior makes me feel safe, because if I get scared He is right by my side. I think Jesus Christ is perfect and wonderful. I try to be like Him by serving, loving, and being nice to others. I try to be like Jesus by reading my scriptures. I show my love for Him when I obey. Jesus loves us so much that He was willing to pay the price for our sins. VAL 10A: I have had fights with my sister,. So I repented and then said sorry and she forgave me. When I repent, I say a prayer and ask for forgiveness, then try to never do it again. VAL 10A: VAL 10A: We are blessed by the Atonement because we can be clean and live with Heavenly Father again. Jesus overcame dying for us. He was resurrected. I believe that I will live again forever with my family and that I will see God and Jesus again. Did Jesus Really Live Again? - (With Sign Language) 1. Did Jesus really live again? Yes, when the third day came, He wakened and He left the tomb; He called Maryʼs name. 2. Did Jesus come to those He loved? Yes, people touched His feet, And of the fish and honeycomb He did truly eat. 3. And there were nail-prints in His hands and a spear would in His side. Did Jesus really live again after He had died? Oh yes! And so shall I!
5 GROUP 5: VAL 10B: VAL 10B: VAL 10B: VAL 10B: Joseph Smith History 1:17, I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other --This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him! The Church of Jesus Christ Has Been Restored Restored means that it has been brought back. I get a priesthood blessing before I start school every year. I am grateful the priesthood was restored. When I had surgery to get my adenoids out, I was scared that I might die. So my step-dad gave me a Priesthood blessing and it helped comfort me. When I woke up from the surgery, I was safe and fine. **VAL 10B: The Book of Mormon has blessed my life. (ASK him how?) VAL 10B: The gospel has been restored. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith is a real prophet. I feel blessed being able to share the gospel with others. Praise to the Man (Vs. 1 and 3 Spirit of God Chorus Jennie Violin) 1. Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah! Jesus anointed that prophet and seer. Blessed to open the last dispensation, Kings shall extol him, and nations revere. PTTM Chorus: Hail to the Prophet ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain. Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer the hero again. Spirit of God Chorus: Weʼll sing and weʼll shout with the armies of heaven, Hosanna, hosanna to God and the Lamb! Let glory to them in the highest be given, Henceforth and forever, Amen and Amen! 3. 6 GROUP 6: **VAL 10A: VAL 8C: VAL 8C: VAL 8C: The First Principles and Ordinances of the Gospel Make It Possible for Me to Live with God Again. The 4 th Article of Faith states, We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; Faith is like a little seed because it needs to be nourished. I nourish my faith by being obedient. Faith is like a little seed because your faith can grow. Something we do to help our faith grow is say our prayers. I go to church to help my faith grow. **(Same) VAL 10A: second, Repentance ; VAL 8C: The scriptures talk about repentance. Alma the Younger was really wicked. He repented for all his sins and he was forgiven. **(Same) VAL 10A: third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; VAL 8C: At my baptism, I made a promise to always remember Jesus. I felt really happy and special that day. **(Same) VAL 10A: fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. *VAL 8C: I did not know if we should move wards but the Holy Ghost helped me. (ASK him to share more about this) What is Faith? - (Sunbeams & CTR 4 sing special part) Sunbeams & CTR 4 What is faith? What is faith? 1. Two fishermen were casting their net into the sea. The Savior came and said to them, Come ye after me. And they gave up all and went with Him, Trusted Him, followed Him. This is faith. Sunbeams & CTR 4 What is faith? What is faith? 2. A blind man cried for mercy, and begged that he might see. He knew that Christ could heal him. He asked and he believed. When the Savior made him whole again,
7 He trusted Him, followed Him. This is faith. An anchor to the souls of men. A hope for things not seen that are true. It changes how I act and what I do. Yes, this is faith. Sunbeams & CTR 4 What is faith? What is faith? 3. Through the Holy Scriptures, I learn of Jesusʼ day, and of His many teachings, His loving righteous ways. And though I was not there when the Savior walked the earth, I can still believe in Him, trust in Him, follow Him. This is faith. Sunbeams & CTR 4 What is faith? ALL This is Faith GROUP 7: VAL 10A: ( The Family: A Proclamation to the World, paragraph 3). Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally. CTR 7B: CTR 7B: CTR 7B: CTR 7B: The temple is so special because it is The House of God. We can feel the Holy Spirit in the temple. I can prepare to go to the temple someday by saying my prayers and serving others. Families are blessed through sacred temple ordinances. *CTR 7B: (ASK to share about his family being sealed on Aug. 6 th!!!) I Love to See the Temple - (? Flute / Violin / Recorder / Bells?) 1. I love to see the temple. Iʼm going there someday To feel the Holy Spirit, to listen and to pray. For the temple is a house of God, a place of love and beauty. Iʼll prepare myself while I am young; This is my sacred duty. 2. I love to see the temple. Iʼll go inside someday. Iʼll covʼnant with my Father; Iʼll promise to obey. For the temple is a holy place where we are sealed together. As a child of God, Iʼve learned this truth: A family is forever. GROUP 8: VAL 10A: 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?... The temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. My Body Is a Temple of God
8 **VAL 11A: ** (Two min. talk on My Body is a Temple. -- Modesty and the Word of Wisdom) ASSIGN** (Two minute talk on Reading, watching, and listening to wholesome things keeps my mind clean ) ASSIGN** GROUP 9: CTR 7A: The Lord Gave Me a Temple 1. The Lord gave me a temple to live within on earth. Once in heaven I was spirit, but I left my home at birth. Iʼll make my temple brighter; Iʼll keep my spirit free. My body is the temple my Father gave to me. 2. If I keep my body clean and pure and habit free, I may in Fatherʼs temple claim blessings promised me. On resurrection morning, Iʼll take my body bright And in celestial glory forever live in light. D & C 133:37, This gospel shall be preached unto every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people. CTR 7A: The Gospel Will Be Preached in All the World *CTR 7A: One of my favorite missionaries in the scriptures is Alma. **(Have her share WHY?) CTR 7A: CTR 7A: I would like to serve a mission in New York someday. I am getting ready by reading the Book of Mormon and serving others. Someday I would like to serve a mission in Boston. But I can be a missionary right now by being a good example. (***Find out if anyone has a sibling serving a mission right now SHARE) This Little Gospel Light of Mine CLASS CTR 6B 1. 9 GROUP 10: VAL 10A: James 1:5, If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Prayer is Reverent Communication between God and Me We can pray anywhere and any time we want to talk to Heavenly Father. In the scriptures it says that Jesus prayed to Heavenly Father when He was in the garden with olive trees. When I pray, I ask Heavenly Father for angels to watch over us. I thank Heavenly Father for my family when I say my prayers. I thank Heavenly Father for a home and that Jesus sacrificed for us. When I pray, I thank Heavenly Father for my baby brother,, and I ask him for another baby brother. One time I was making a spaceship with Legos and I was missing one. So I said a prayer and found it. * I prayed about my surgery that I would feel good after. (*ASK her to share more) I Pray in Faith 1. I kneel to pray evʼry day. I speak to heavenly Father. He hears and answers me when I pray in faith. 2. I begin by saying, Dear Heavenly Father ; I thank Him for blessings he sends; Then humbly I ask Him for things that I need, In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. GROUP 11: Matthew 16:27, For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. The Scriptures Teach Me about the Saviorʼs Birth and Second Coming
10 The parable of the ten virgins in the scriptures teaches us to be prepared when Christ comes again. VAL 11A: I ʻput oil in my lampʼ each day by praying, reading the scriptures and going to church. VAL 11A: I know that my Savior lives and will come again someday. Iʼm looking forward to the Second Coming because I will get to see Jesus Christ and feel His love. I think I will be happy and reverent when I see the Savior again. My testimony is that I know that Jesus Christ lives. And I know that because of Him we can live in heaven again. When I see Him again I will give him a hug. I would like to bear my testimony that I know Jesus is real and cares about us. I know that Jesus was resurrected and that He lives again. I will feel grateful when I see the Savior. I am excited to live with Him again. I believe that Jesus is my Savior and that He loves me. I look forward to the Second Coming because He is my brother and my Lord and I have never actually seen Him on earth. When I do see Him again, I think that I will cry and hug Him and not let go. (I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.) When He Comes Again (VS. 2: Congregation joins - Put in program) 1. I wonder, when He comes again, will herald angels sing? Will earth be white with drifted snow, or will the world know spring? I wonder if one star will shine far brighter than the rest; Will daylight stay the whole night through? Will songbirds leave their nests? Iʼm sure Heʼll call His little ones together ʻround His knee. Because He said in days gone by, Suffer them to come to me! 2. I wonder, when he comes again, Will I be ready there there To look upon His loving face and join with Him in prayer? Each day Iʼll try to do His will and let my light so shine That others seeing me may seek for greater light divine. Then, when that blessed day is here, Heʼll love me and Heʼll say, Youʼve served me well, my little child; Come unto my arms to stay!
