THE DUNCAN HOSPITAL THE DUNCAN 01/04/2018 APRIL ISSUE DYNAMICS DISCIPLE: THE TAUGHT ONE John 1:36-40 Messiah had twelve disciples who were with him wherever he went and in everything he did. They assisted him with ministry, travelled with him, ate with him rested with him and lived their lives with Him. Who were they? We must remember that Messiah was a Rabbi, every great Rabbi had disciples. The 12 were not just disciples but disciples of a Rabbi. They were called TALMIDIM which comes from a Hebrew root word Lamad. Lamad is linked to teaching or learning. So the disciples were the taught one's, learners. It must be this Rabbi who teaches you if you are his disciple, and if you are his disciple, what is your purpose? Your first calling is to be a learner. No disciple learns on his own. You have The Rabbi of rabbis. That means you have the one who teaches you every minute, every day, every hour and every moment. It means your life is not just a life but a course and it means you are not to waste your time here. FAMILY FOCUS: Mr Johnny My parents were working in Nagaland as Missionary teachers. I grew up in Nagaland and did my schooling there. In 2000, I shifted to Kerala for higher studies. I have a brother, Justin, who is currently living in Kerala. God blessed me with a lovely wife Mrs. Irin on 30 th December 2010. I came to know about Duncan hospital through my friend Ms. Levis Murry who worked as a nursing tutor in Duncan school of nursing. We got the opportunity to join Duncan hospital on 15 th June 2011. We had a memorable journey from Howrah to Raxaul, where we lost our luggage. Half alive, we reached Raxaul and were looking for the platform. Finally realizing that the train has stopped on the 2 nd platform, I jumped out of the train, looking back, I saw my wife staring at me as if she was trying to jump from a chopper. We finally managed to locate our hospital vehicle in the station parking area and saw a person dressed like a military personnel and he welcomed us. As we went towards the hospital, we got to know his name, he was our Lawrence bhaiya. Talking to him, we forgot all the difficulties we had faced. Three weeks after joining this hospital, we thought of leaving this place but God s plan was different. Many times we believe in our own strength and take decisions, never realizing that God takes us through difficult times to make us humble. God planned Duncan hospital as a pruning place for us. In the year 2012,we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl Jovelyn, who is now 6 years old. When we look back there is not even one thing to be disappointed, rather there are uncountable blessings for which we praise God. We learned many things at Duncan. Many people have upheld us through their valuable prayers and support here at Duncan. Among many of the blessings, our parents, who are here with us, and our dear dadi (Mrs. Meena Devi) are the strength and has been the fuel that has kept us going here at Duncan. 2
