Jimmy Swaggart Expositor s Study Bible: THE LIE From SATAN! The Jimmy Swaggart Expositor s Study Bible is of the Devil! It speaks THE LIE from SATAN as though it were God s Truth. And here are the facts that prove it: From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (Matthew 16:21-24 KJV) In the preceding Scripture, Jesus announced His imminent suffering and death on the cross. The time was near for Jesus to fulfill God s 4000 year old promise of The Messiah (Genesis 3:15) who would take away the sin of the world so that all who trust in Him might be saved from the everlasting fiery torments of Hell. What an awesome time in the history of mankind! But yet Peter rebuked Jesus for His words: Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. And then Jesus rebuked Peter for speaking that LIE of THE DEVIL: Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. 1

In fact Jesus made it abundantly clear that not only must He suffer, but each and every person who puts their trust in Him must suffer as well: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Suffering is a necessary ingredient in becoming one with Jesus: Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution...but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. (2 Timothy 3:12; 1 Peter 4:13 KJV) Suffering is an absolute necessity for Christians, howbeit, suffering is not what most would choose to do. And, of course, that is the reason Jesus had to be emphatically dogmatic about it: He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. (John 12:25 KJV) The word lose in John 12:25 was translated from the Greek word apolluni, which, according to the Strong s Greek Dictionary, means to destroy fully (reflexively to perish, or lose), literally or figuratively: - destroy, die, lose, mar, perish. And with that in mind, the following is a proper interpretation of John 12:25: He that loveth his life more than the will of God shall lose it eternally; and he that hateth his life in comparison of the will of God shall preserve it. (John Wesley s Explanatory Notes) That s God s Truth! But yet the following is what Jimmy Swaggart says in his Expositor s Study Bible commentary notes on John 12:25: hits at the very heart of man s problem; it could be paraphrased, He who loves self shall not see fulfillment refers to putting self last, and Christ first in all things. You see Jimmy Swaggart says that He that loveth his life shall lose it could be paraphrased He who loves self shall not see fulfillment, but just what has lack of fulfillment got to do with everlasting destruction? There is absolutely no correlation between the word fulfillment and everlasting death! Hell is the total absence of any type of human fulfillment or satisfaction! Suffering in the burning fires of Hell for all eternity is what lose it is all about, and that s what awaits those who please themselves (my will) instead of God (His Will). Christians must hate whatever desires, interest, and good intentions they might have 2

that are not the Will of the Father. Christians must die to the desires of self, which is in no way the same as putting self last as Jimmy Swaggart has stated. So, why did Jimmy Swaggart neuter John 12:25? Well, this next Scripture will give us the answer: And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (Mark 8:34 KJV) That s what the Word of God says, and the following is a proper interpretation thereof: And when he called the people to hear a truth of the last importance, and one that equally concerned them all. Let him deny himself, his own will, in all things small and great, however pleasing, and that continually: And take up his cross; embrace the will of God, however painful, daily, hourly, continually. Thus only can he follow me in holiness to glory. (John Wesley s Explanatory Notes) That s God s Truth! However, the following is what Jimmy Swaggart says in his Expositor s Study Bible commentary notes on Mark 8:34: speaks of an interval of some period of time between His rebuke of Peter in this present statement deny his own strength, ability, talent, power, and carnal intellect not suffering as many suppose, but rather the benefit of the Cross implying that Jesus cannot be followed, unless it s by the way of the Cross. So why does Jimmy Swaggart continually deny the facts? Why did Jimmy Swaggart list all sorts of things that Believers must deny ( strength, ability, talent, power, and carnal intellect ) but yet leave out the one thing that s all encompassing SELF!!!? Well, I ll tell you why. One of Jimmy Swaggart s famous one-liners is God would never tell you to do something that you don t want to do! And of course that s the very same reason Jimmy Swaggart has excluded the suffering word from his own salvation walk vocabulary and the Expositor s Study Bible as well not suffering as many suppose, but rather the benefit of the Cross. The Holy Bible the Word of God plainly states that we must die to what we want (our will) in order to do what He wants (God s Will), and this entire process of suffering through the denial of self in obedience to God is described as taking up the cross. Our cross is the cross that we must all bear. But yet the Cross that Jimmy Swaggart keeps referring to in his bible is the cross that Jesus bore. In other words Jesus did all the suffering for us at His Cross. Jimmy Swaggart says that Jesus command Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me does not mean suffering as many suppose! 3

But let s not stop there. Here s another Scripture that proves Jimmy Swaggart speaks the no suffering LIE from SATAN in his Expositor s Study Bible: It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. (2 Timothy 2:11-13 KJV) That s what the Word of God says, and the following is a proper interpretation of verse 12: If we deny him - To escape suffering for him. (John Wesley s Explanatory Notes) That s what the Word of God says, but yet this is what thus saith Jimmy Swaggart in his Expositor s Study Bible commentary notes on 2 Timothy 2:12: the suffering has to do with fighting the good fight of faith ; to reign means to reign as a king, so the stakes are very high! refers to denying what He did for us at the Cross Jimmy Swaggart says that to deny him (Jesus) means to denying what He did for us at the Cross, but of course the Cross that Jimmy Swaggart is referring to is the Cross to which Jesus was nailed and not our cross by which we must suffer. Jimmy Swaggart is wrong! In fact, Jimmy Swaggart is dead wrong! In order to follow Jesus, we must be willing to suffer in whatever way required or else we will deny Him and He will deny us. And the following Scripture confirms it: Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples. (Matthew 26:33-35 KJV) Now can the picture be any clearer than that? Peter claimed that he would suffer an agonizing death on a cross along with Jesus before he would ever deny Him. Peter was talking about suffering real physical torment himself. This was the cross that Peter was required to bear, but 4

yet the following is what Jimmy Swaggart had to say in his Expositor s Study Bible commentary notes on Matthew 26:33-35: boastful pride! all made boastful claims That was absolutely all that Jimmy Swaggart had to say about Peter denying Christ. And of course the very obvious reason that Jimmy Swaggart didn t elaborate was because this Scripture diametrically opposes his belief that we don t have to suffer for Jesus in order to be saved. Jimmy Swaggart preaches/teaches another gospel because Jimmy Swaggart preaches/teaches another cross which is THE LIE from SATAN. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:6-10 KJV) Jimmy Swaggart and his Expositor s Study Bible will not only doom his soul to Hell for all eternity but multiple thousands of others as well. But does anybody care??? It s not too late to turn Jimmy Swaggart back to God s Truth, but is anyone willing to help? Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
