JESUS TEACHES ABOUT INNER PURITY Matthew 15 1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread (Doctrine of men; had developed rituals and was their law not God s Law; it wasn t holy; should be clean but don t make a ritual out of it and claim from God.). (The Bible tells us 1 Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem. 2 And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. 3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. 4 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. 5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? 6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. 9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. 10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: 11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. 12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; 13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye. 14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand: 15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. 16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. 17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable. 18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; 19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? 20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts,

covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. Mark 7:1-23) 3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? (Jesus criticizes the religious leaders.) The Bible tells us 37 And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat. (Christ did not say Oh you re Pharisee so I can t be with you.) 38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner (They invented their own ideas and religion; the Pharisee had made a religious ritual.) Luke 11:37-38). 4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. (The Bible tells us 2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise (Children must see parents respect one another.); Ephesians 6:2) 5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. 7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me (The Bible tells us 29 Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed. 30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD. 31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. Ezekiel 33:29-31). 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (The Bible tells us 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Colossians 2:8) (The Bible tells us 5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned (Sincere faith; swerved from salvation and invent their own ideas.): 6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. I Timothy 1:5-7) (The Bible tells us 13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them

sharply, that they may be sound in the faith (Correct them, don t let them go on believing and error.); 14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables (Not true religion of God.), and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Titus 1:13-14) 10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: 11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man (spiritually speaking) (The Bible tells us 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Acts 10:15 (The people that believe the false doctrine stop here and eat pork, and unclean food.). 12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? 13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up (God is the one who brings the religion to one.) (The Bible tells us 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended (Includes all the children of Israel in the 2 nd resurrection.). 21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. Isaiah 60:20-21). (The Bible tells us 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. John 15:2) (The Bible tells us 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase (Only God can make it grow; God and Christ are not divided.). 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour (Preach the same message; stop playing games.). 9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry (God s harvest.), ye are God's building. I Corinthians 3:7-9) 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch (The Bible tells us 10 This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing. Jeremiah 13:10) (Many come in my name but are not of God and are far away; and still do the same thing today.) (The Bible tells us 16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. Isaiah 9:16) (The Bible tells us 8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law (You have made it of none effect.); ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts. Malachi 2:8)

15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. 16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? (The Bible tells us 9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? Matthew 16:9). 17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man (The Bible tells us 5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. James 3:5-6). 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies (Transgression of the Law of God or torah.): (The Bible tells us 12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. 13 He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; 14 Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. Proverbs 6:12-14) (The Bible tells us 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? 10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:9-10) 20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man (Satan picks on the leader and people follow the leader; in this verse it is speaking spiritually.). 21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon (The Bible tells us 24 And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid. 25 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: 26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician (An inhabitant of the region Canaanite woman, native of this area, though a Gentile, and by persistence and humility won from Jesus healing for her daughter. Mark7:26. Matt. 5:22) near Tyre and Sidon, modern Lebanon. A Greek speaking by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. 27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. 28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. 29 And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.

30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed. Mark 7:24-30). 22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. (She knew of Jesus because lived among the Jews.) (Christ was setting an example for the diciples.) 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (That s my church, my people, my wife.) (The Bible tells us 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6) (The Bible tells us 5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matthew 10:5-7) (The Bible tells us 25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed (All will eventfully will learn the truth of God and all will be blessed; why? Because Abraham obeyed God, His laws and His church.). 26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. Acts 3:25-26) 25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me (God doesn t take the truth to the whole world; just to Israel; her faith came by obeying what she understood form just living in the area. Faith comes by hearing and she had heard from the temple and so when Jesus came to the area, she knew who He was.) 26 But he answered and said, It is not meet (right) to take the children's (children of the Kingdom) bread, and to cast it to dogs. (The Bible tells us 6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Matthew 7:6) 27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. (The Gentiles that lived around the Israelites reap the benefits of God s mercy; she knew enough of the religion and believed.) 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt (went). And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

THE CROWD MARVELS AT JESUS HEALINGS 29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. 30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: (The Bible tells us 31 And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis. 32 And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. 33 And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue (Not interested in a big show.); 34 And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha (open up), that is, Be opened. 35 And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. Mark 7:31-35) (The Bible tells us 4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. 5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart (deer), and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. Isaiah 35:4-6) 31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel (Not all Jews rejected Him.). JESUS FEEDS FOUR THOUSAND 32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude (His people, His wife.), because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way (The Bible tells us 13 Like as a father pitieth (loving concern) his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. 14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. Psalm 103:13-15). (The Bible tells us 4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion. 5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant. 9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. Psalms 111:4-5 9-10) (The Bible tells us 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

Hebrews 2:17) (The Bible tells us 1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. Hebrews 5:1-30 33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? (The Bible tells us 21 And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. 22 Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? Numbers 11:21-22) 34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. 35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. (The Bible tells us 27 These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. 28 That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good. Psalms 104:27-28) 38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children. 39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.(tower) MEMORY VERSE Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude (His people, His wife.), because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. Matthew 15:32 SABBATH LESSONS FOR TOTS

JESUS FEEDS FOUR THOUSAND LIKE AS A FATHER PITIETH (Loving Concern) HIS CHILDREN, SO THE LORD PITIETH THEM THAT FEAR HIM. FOR HE KNOWETH OUR FRAME; HE REMEMBERETH THAT WE ARE DUST. AS FOR MAN, HIS DAYS ARE AS THE GRASS: AS A FLOWER OF THE FIELD, SO HE FLOURISHETH. Psalm 103:13-15 AND JESUS SAITH UNTO THEM, HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YE? AND THEY, SEVEN AND A FEW LITTLE FISHES. AND HE COMMANDED THEM TO SIT ON THE GROUND. AND HE TOOK THE SEVEN LOAVES AND THE FISHES, AND GAVE THANKS, AND BRAKE THEM, AND GAVE TO HIS DISCIPLES, AND THE DISCIPLES TO THE MULTITUDE. AND THEY DID ALL EAT, AND WERE FILLED: AND THE TOOK UP OF THE BROKEN MEAT THAT WAS LEFT SEVEN BASKETS FULL.
