Step 4 What Do I Believe Scriptures The following are a list of suggested scriptures to use as a starting point. Lies About Myself 1. I donʼt belong, I often feel left out. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. John 14:27 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 Donʼt be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength! Nehemiah 8:10 7. I am the problem. Usually when something goes wrong it is my fault. The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Psalm 37:23,24 Thatʼs why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. James 3:2 8. I donʼt deserve love. The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion. My power works best in weakness. So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 For we are Godʼs masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. Philippians 4:13 27. My value is based on how people think about me and act towards me. Lies About Others/God 1. People will always use me and hurt me. The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life. Psalm 121:7 But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.2 Thessalonians 3:3 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. Psalm 57:1 2. If I allow myself to care for someone, that person will probably end up leaving me. Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to him, You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust. Psalm 91:1-2 He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases. He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you. Psalm 91:3-4 3. I cannot trust anyone. Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5,6 Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8 For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
