Transcription:

SEPTEMBER 2016 The Spire Central Presbyterian Church is a welcoming community of faith that seeks to serve Jesus Christ through sharing our collec ve talents, by proclaiming the Gospel, feeding the hungry, healing the brokenhearted, suppor ng local and worldwide missions, and enjoying the journey with the Triune God. This mission statement was developed as a result of the congrega on s commitment to Mission Redefini on as its focus for the future. Strategies for implemen ng this redefini on of the congrega on s mission are being developed by the Visionary Commi ee. The first project established by this commi ee is the recently announced commitment to change the purpose of the Community House to become a facility that will serve as a crisis-stabiliza on and temporary holding center for children who are newly admi ed to the foster -care program of the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This collabora ve project is now in the early stages of implementa on. Opportuni es for the congrega on s involvement in this mission will be numerous, and will be announced very soon. Our facility will be the first of its kind in our community. We hope it will serve as a model for some congrega ons to emulate and for others to par cipate. While addi onal ini a ves are being discussed and considered by the Visionary Commi ee, this one is a major step toward becoming a more Missional Congrega on. Since I will be moving to First Chris an Church as their transi onal pastor in November, I wanted to remind you of all you have accomplished during the last year or so, and to challenge you to remain firmly focused on Central s mission in the future. Grace and Peace, Don Hubbard 1
