OUR LADY of LOURDES CHURCH LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY Join us for Mystagogy Have you ever considered how our church has been able to sustain itself for over 2000 years? It would not have lasted if not for a strong foundation. The Sunday readings during the Easter season walk us through the process of building our church foundation. Mystagogy is a deepening in our understanding of the mysteries of our faith. In fact, the word mystagogy comes from the Greek meaning to lead through the mysteries. Between Easter and Pentecost we invite inquiring minds to open the Word with us and build on that foundation. Come check it out! Join us on Sundays beginning April 8 from 10:30 11:15 AM in the Cafeteria. All are invited. Gift Bearers A sign up sheet will be on the Ministry Bulletin Board for the masses each month. If you would like to present the gifts during mass, please sign up on this sheet. Check in with the Sacristan when you arrive for mass to see if the scheduled family has arrived. Liturgical Ministry Schedule Weekday and weekend liturgical ministers may easily check the monthly schedule with the Minister Schedule button on the parish website. The schedule is also posted on the bulletin board in the Sacristy. RCIA News Please keep all of our candidates and catechumens in your prayers as they continue their faith journey. Interested in learning more about our faith? Please contact Doug Wolz, dougw@ourlourdes.org or call the Parish Office, 896.0241. God s Loving Mercy Easter Sunday is but two weeks away, on April 1. In our First Reading from the prophet Jeremiah, we hear God tell us, I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sin no more. To affirm that forgiveness, St. Paul has this to say in the Second Reading: He (Jesus) became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him. There is a connection between these two statements which present forgiveness as the way to salvation. The Lenten season is one of penance, reflection, prayer, almsgiving, and fasting, perhaps even in that order, so we can better prepare ourselves for Easter Sunday and beyond. Lent reminds us that God is gracious and merciful. God s divine mercy is a central theme of Lent. One might say that the priceless gift of God s mercy is highlighted and celebrated in the Church in the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession). That should be a key part of our Lenten journey. As mentioned only two weeks remain on that journey so getting to reconciliation is important if we have not done so already. Sacramental confession allows God s loving mercy and His grace-filled absolution to be confirmed to us through a priest. God sees us with love, mercy, and an abundance of forgiveness. Christ, through the priest, helps us to let go of anything that gets in the way of our relationship to God. St. Isidore wrote, Confession heals, confession justifies, confession grants pardon of sin. All hope consists in confession. In confession there is a chance for mercy. March 18 Fifth Sunday of Lent 1 st Reading: Jeremiah 31:31 34 2 nd Reading: Hebrews 5:7 9 Gospel: John 12:20 33 Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Question of the Week: Adult: When and in what way have you seen life come from death? Child: When have you felt stronger because you sacrificed something for a friend or family member? Scripture Readings for the week of March 18 MONDAY St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary 2 Samuel 7:4 5a, 12 14a, 16 Romans 4:13, 16 18, 22 or Matthew 1:16, 18 21 or Luke 2:41 51a TUESDAY Numbers 21:4 9 John 8:21 30 WEDNESDAY Daniel 3:14 20, 91 92, 95 John 8:31 42 THURSDAY Genesis 17:3 9 John 8:51 59 FRIDAY St. Turibius of Mogrovejo, Bishop Jeremiah 20:10 13 John 10:31 42 SATURDAY Blessed Oscar Romero, Bishop & Martyr Ezekiel 37:21 28 John 11:45 56 NEXT SUNDAY Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord Mark 11:1 10 or John 12:12 16 Isaiah 50:4 7 Philippians 2:6 11 Mark 14:1 15:47 or 15:1 39

The School Legacy Fund is never used for regular operational costs but is held in reserve to provide for any extraordinary expenses associated with maintaining our school and continuing our tradition of excellence in Catholic education. Funds were used to update the school restrooms, and recently, we were thrilled to be able to update the audio/visual system in the Parish Life Center with School Legacy Funds.
