2 MOBC FAITH DEVELOPMENT!! May 24 August 29, 2015 PENTECOST, the fiftieth day after Easter, comes from the Greek word for fiftieth, pentekoste. Greek-speaking Jews called the Jewish Feast of Weeks the Day of Pentecost. Acts 2 tells how the anxious and fearful disciples, who had gathered on the Day of Pentecost, were filled with the Holy Spirit and thereafter preached boldly the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the day on which the church received the Holy Spirit. COLORS FOR PENTECOST: RED OR RED ON WHITE. RED, THE COLOR OF FIRE, REPRESENTS THE HOLY SPIRIT. Theme For This Quarter: GOD S PROPHETS DEMAND JUSTICE This quarter has three units justice and injustice. These lessons, covering seven different prophets, investigate the perpetrators of injustice, the nature of injustice, and the victims of injustice. It steadily moves toward repentance, redemption, and restoration. UNIT 11 -- MICAH CALLS FOR JUSTICE AMONG UNJUST PEOPLE Micah Calls for Justice Among Unjust People is a four-lesson study. Lesson 1 focuses on social and moral injustice. Lesson 2 looks at the injustice of corrupt leaders. The last two lessons discuss what God requires for justice and them how God dispenses mercy to restore justice. July 12, 2015 No Tolerance for Corrupt Leaders & Prophets NEXT WEEK S LESSON: Micah 3:5-12 Some leaders are corrupt, lie to the people they are charged to protect, and then find associates who will support their evil ways. What can be done to end this dishonesty? God will judge and punish corrupt leaders and prophets. MONDAY: Do Not Pervert Justice Exodus 23:1-8 TUESDAY: False Prophecies of Peace Ezekiel 13:15-20 WEDNESDAY: Act in the Fear of the Lord 2 Chronicles 19:4-10 THURSDAY: Walk Blamelessly, Do Right, Speak Truth Psalm 15 FRIDAY: Known by Their Fruits Matthew 7:15-20 SATURDAY: Woe to Those Striving with God Isaiah 45:5-13 SUNDAY: Sold Out Religion Micah 3:5-12 Sermon Highlights June 28, 2015 Title: Can Jesus Count On You? Text: Matthew 5:13-16 Main Idea: Can Jesus count on you to let your light shine? If the answer is yes, then it means you understand: Points: 1) It goes beyond singing the song This Little Light of Mine. 2) The necessity of dying to self. 3) You can count on Jesus. For the full message order a CD or DVD of the service from the Media Ministry. CDs $5.00; Double CDs $7.00; DVDs $10.00 HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell some one else what Jesus has done in your life! Spring 2015 semester now in session. Class meets every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM 8:00 PM in the Classroom #1. This quarter the study focuses on the book of Acts: the development of the early church, the life and missionary journey of Paul, and the geographical and social backgrounds. Instructor: Marilyn E. Coates
