Words and Music: Public Domain Other verses on the screen Almighty God, in the baptism of your Son we glimpse the Three-in-one; The river runs, the clouds are torn apart, the Father speaks, the Spirit and the Son reveal to us the single, loving heart that beats behind the being of all things, and calls and keeps and kindles us to light. As the dove descended, the Spirit soared and sang, "You are beloved, you are my delight! You are the voice that made the universe, you make us new again, and call us to step into that river, to die and rise and live and love forever, in Christ our Lord. Amen. Page 3 Page 4

THE WORD Gospel Reading Matthew 28:16-20 The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise to you, Lord Christ. Sermon Cleansed, Healed, Forgiven Prayers for the People and for our World Eternal God, our only hope, we turn and pray for the people of the South, including Africa, South America, the islands of the Pacific, and Australia. We are thankful that there is a great harvest happening in the South and, in spite of poverty and social differences, many coming to faith in Christ. Give food and hope to the hungry, comfort those who suffer from AIDS and other diseases, and grant peace between all people. Hear our prayer. Amen. We pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in the West. Pour out your Holy Spirit, O Lord, and let your Church be renewed. We pray for our brothers and sisters in North America and Europe. We pray for a generous sharing of wealth and resources around the world. Hear our prayer Lord, lead the people in the North your ways. We ask for renewal of the old church in northern countries and a new boldness to proclaim God's story to all nations. Look with compassion on the whole human family. Take away our arrogance and hatred that infect our hearts. Break down the wall that separate us; unite us in the bonds of love. Hear our prayer Offertory Teach us, O God words & music: L. Waites 1. God, you have called us, your chosen people, holy, and dearly loved! Restore and heal us, form and fill us; Send your Spirit like a dove (Chorus) Teach us, O God, to bear with one another, to forgive as we have been forgiven. To live in the Spirit s power, as sisters and brothers, O let Christ s compassion be our witness, you cleanse, heal, and forgive us. 2. God, you have told us, to set our minds on things above, For we have died, and now we live in Christ! Hidden within your life, your pure and spotless bride; Help us shine your holy light (Chorus) O God, you cleanse us. We re healed and forgiven! (x2) 3. God, you have called us, as your beloved children, to share your story with the world! To live in unity, displaying your beauty; Share your love, til all have heard... (Chorus) Lord, guide the people and nations of the East in your ways. Give courage and optimism. Let the gospel prosper and reach the unreached. We ask that the people in the east will live in peace with people of all faiths, but also that the name of Jesus will be proclaimed with clarity and power. We pray for the peoples of the countries of the Middle East, and for all those in the midst of political unrest, disagreement, war and terrorism. We pray for reconciliation and peace. THE TABLE The Lord is here; The Holy Spirit is with us. Lift up your hearts; We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God; It is right to give him thanks and praise. Creator God, it is right to give you thanks in sickness and in health, in suffering and in joy, through Christ our Savior and Redeemer, who as the Good Samaritan tends the wounds of body and spirit. He stands by us, and pours out for our healing his body and his blood, transforming our pain through his sacrifice. And now we join with saints and angels forever praising you and singing: Sanctus music: David Madeira Words of Institution darkness, healing for our brokenness, water in our dry and weary land; you are bread for our hunger, drink for our thirst, eternal and abundant life for us all. Amen. We give you thanks for Jesus Christ -- word made flesh, light of the world, living water, oil of healing, cup of blessing, bread of life, Savior of our sins! Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread and gave thanks; he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave thanks; he gave it to them, saying: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. Memorial Acclamation music: J. Hart 2001 Jim Hart. rights reserved. Copyright 2013 David W. Madeira Communion Prayer Holy God, we praise you, that when we had fallen into sin, you sent Jesus, your only Son, our Savior, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you. You are light in our Page 7 (The leader continues: ) Pour out your Holy Spirit on us, and on these gifts. Make us holy, make us whole; make us one as you are one. Amen. Page 9 Jesus said: Come to me, and never be hungry; Keep coming, whenever you are hungry! Trust in me and never thirst. Keep coming, and let me quench your thirst again and again. Communion Procession In preparing this service, we recognize that the body is diverse. Many practices both ancient and modern seem foreign to our experience. What we do tonight is not magical but it is mysterious. It is not superstitious but it is supernatural. The depth and riches of what the Triune God does in and through the sacraments cannot be contained and explained merely by our senses. Yet, God gave us our senses to experience the sacraments: see, hear, taste, touch and smell that God is good. It is with these sensibilities, rooted in the Word and the ancient practices of the church, that we invite you to join us tonight. who are baptized Christians are welcome at the Lord s Table. Anyone who does not want to receive Communion, or water or oil, is invited to come forward, cross their arms across their chests, and receive a prayer of blessing. The Eucharist is gluten and alcohol free. Page 10
