We are invited into the agony of our Lord in the extended reading of the story of Jesus passion. In the second reading, we who have put on Christ in holy baptism are urged to let the mind of Christ be our own. Lent leads us to this holy moment. Embrace it. Children s Message (bring palms to the sanctuary entrance) Bell Peale (At the end of the bell toll, please rise and face the rear entrance) In the name of the Father, and of the (+) Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. THE CRY OF THE WHOLE CONGREGATION Worship for the Way of the Cross (please follow in the accompanying booklet)

Sermon Pr. Nicholson Revelation 19:11-16 Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse! Its rider is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems; and he has a name inscribed that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, wearing fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron; he will tread the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed, King of kings and Lord of lords. (silence for reflection follows the sermon) Apostles Creed (please stand) I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Prayers of the Church (please kneel or sit) Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. The Peace (please stand) The peace of the Lord be with you always. And also with you. (please be seated) 2

MEAL Gathering of Gifts (An offering is gathered for the mission of the church, including the care of those in need.) Anthem 8:15am Hosanna! Blessed Is He Nystedt Trinity Choir 10:45am Hosanna Fedak Chancel Choir Offertory (please stand) Offertory Prayer Let us pray. God our provider, you have not fed us with bread alone, but with words of grace and life. Bless us and these your gifts, which we receive from your bounty, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 3

MEAL The Great Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is indeed right, our duty...we praise your name and join their unending hymn: Holy, Holy, Holy Eucharistic Prayer Blessed are you, O God of the universe. Your mercy is everlasting With this bread and cup, we remember our Lord s Passover from death to life as we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Pour out your Holy Spirit on us and on these gifts of bread and wine. Grace our table with your presence and raise us up as the body of Christ for the world. Breathe new life into us. Come, Holy Spirit. With your holy ones of all times and places, we praise you, O God, blessed and holy Trinity, now and forever. Amen. 5 4

Lord's Prayer Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Invitation to Communion Come to Christ, broken and poured out for you. Lamb of God (please be seated) To receive communion, please come down the center aisle, take a glass and gather at the altar. Non-communing children may come forward with heads bowed for a blessing. 5

Youth Anthem Sunday 8:15am Hosanna in the Highest Music Youth Choir Communion Hymn O Sacred Head, Now Wounded ELW #351 Table Blessing (please stand) The body and blood of our Jesus Christ strengthen you and keep you in His grace. Amen. Post-Communion Prayer Let us pray. Merciful God, accompany our journey through these forty days. Renew us in the gift of baptism, that we may provide for those who are poor, pray for those in need, fast from self-indulgence, and above all that we may find our treasure in the life of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. SENDING Blessing The blessed, holy Trinity keep you in grace, lead you in light, and (+) give you peace. Amen. Dismissal Go in peace. Remember the poor. Share the good news. Thanks be to God.
