September 27 SOLEMNITY OF MARY, THE MOTHER OF THE ORPHANS ENTRANCE SONG I rejoice heartily in the Lord, In my God is the joy of my soul; For He has clothed me with a robe of salvation, And wrapped me in a mantle of justice, Like a bridegroom adorned with a diadem Like a bride bedecked with her jewels. (Is 61:10) OPENING PRAYER O God, you have poured your love for the poor and the orphans in the heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Through her motherly intercession, help us to grow more and more in witnessing your love. We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen. FIRST READING A reading from the Prophet Isaiah. (Is 66:10-14) Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad because of her, all you who love her; Exult, exult with her, all you who were mourning over her!

Oh, that you may suck fully of the milk of her comfort, That you may nurse with delight at her abundant breasts! For thus says the Lord: Lo, I will spread prosperity over her like a river, And the wealth of the nations like an overflowing torrent. As nurslings, you shall be carried in her arms, and fondled in her lap. As a mother comforts her son, so will I comfort you; In Jerusalem you shall find your comfort. When you see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bodies flourish like the grass; The Lord s power shall be known to his servants. The Word of the Lord. RESPONSORIAL PSALM (from Ps 146) R. My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord. The Lord keeps faith forever, secures justice to the oppressed, gives food to the hungry. R. The Lord sets captives free; The Lord gives sight to the blind. The Lord raises up those who were bowed down; The Lord loves the just. R. The Lord protects the strangers;

The fatherless and the widow he sustains, But the way of the wicked he thwarts. R. The Lord shall reign forever; Your God, O Zion, through all generations. R. SECOND READING A reading from the second letter of Paul to the Corinthians (2Cor 1:3-7) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all consolation, who comforts us in our every affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as Christ s sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ does our comfort also overflow. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which enables you to endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is firm, for we know that as you share in the sufferings, you also share in the comfort. The Word of the Lord.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION R. Alleluia, alleluia. Hail, Mary, Mother of mercy, Mother of hope and grace! R. Alleluia, alleluia. GOSPEL A reading from the holy Gospel according to John (Jn 19:25-27) Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, Woman, behold, your son. Then he said to the disciple, Behold, your mother. And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. The Gospel of the Lord. INTERCESSIONS Gathered together in this prayer of praise, let us thank God, our merciful Father, who has filled the Blessed Virgin Mary with his blessings. Let us say together: Mary, full of grace, intercede for us! O God of all consolations, Redeemer of the poor and Father of the orphans; through the intercession of Mary, may the Church be always resplendent of the witness of your love. Let us pray. O God, You loved the world so much that, through Mary, you gave

us your only Son; may we be more united to our Savior through the intercession of His Mother. Let us pray. O God, you have made Mary strong at the foot of the cross and filled her with joy at the resurrection of your Son; strengthen those who suffer through the trial of life and give them hope. Let us pray. O God, you exalted the Blessed Virgin Mary to the glory of heaven; may our deceased brothers and sisters reach with Her the eternal inheritance of your kingdom. Let us pray. Father, look with kindness on your Church and listen to our humble prayers. They are made more valuable by the intercession of the Mother of your Only Son, who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen. PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS Accept, O Lord, our offerings and prayers, in this memorial of the great love of your Son, and, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, pour in our hearts a sincere love for the orphans and the needy. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

PREFACE Priest : The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Priest : Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them up to the Lord. Priest : Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People: It is right to give him thanks and praise. It is our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to proclaim the wonderful things you, O Lord, holy Father and almighty God, have accomplished in the Blessed Virgin Mary. In order to extend your fatherly care through the centuries, You poured in Her the same love that makes you the protector of the orphan and the needy. You continue to pour this same love, into your Church, so that, sustained by the intercession of Your Mother, she may be on earth a perpetual sign of that love with which Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, loved us. Through Him, united with the angels and the saints, We proclaim with joy the hymn of your praise. Holy, Holy, Holy,... COMMUNION SONG Blessed are you, O Blessed Virgin Mary, For you carried in your womb The Son of the eternal Father. (cf Lk 11:27) PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION Lord, our God, may the pledge of future glory we have received in the feast of Mary Mother of the Orphans,

transform our hearts, so that, moved by your Spirit, we may welcome the orphans and the needy with the same love of your Son, who lives and reigns forever and ever.
