Benjamin Franklin and The Great Awakening The Great Awakening, also known as the Age of Reason, was a religious movement, creating many religious groups and education opportunities to train ministers (a lot of preachers made names for themselves because of said movement). Ideals of the enlightenment are seen in the declaration of independence. The constitution and the bill of rights also show ideals of the enlightenment. The idea of this great religious rebirth was very important. It arose the idea of Enlightenment rationalism amongst a large group of people in the colonies. This ended in results for and against.
