Pastor s Page Move Forward & Look Around Regional/National Updates Well, this month marks my official one year anniversary serving the First Christian Church as Senior Pastor. I know when we began this journey neither of us were fully clear of all the things God intended for us to accomplish together. Throughout the last 365 days I believe some of Gods plans for our union has progressively been revealed, in light of the various ministry initiatives we have achieved. As I looked forward to the future, seeking Gods insight for future direction; I was drawn to the actions of Jesus Christ while he journeyed with his disciples. It s no secret Jesus major agenda was the establishment and fulfillment of Gods kingdom and kingdom principles on the earth. However, during his missionary journey, Jesus never lost sight of the equally important assignment of taking care of self, and others! Many times our lives and ministry agendas causes us to move at rapid speed. We begin to operate on auto pilot, or with tunnel vision; only seeing what s in front of us. Taking the necessary moments to stop and care for ourselves and others gradually take a back seat to more important responsibilities. Jesus actions dictate, both our success and endurance require a necessary balance between our work, our rest, and our observation of others. As we continue moving forward, we must remain diligent about the work God has assigned for our ministry. However, we must also be equally intentional to care for ourselves and those around us. Take the necessary moments to rest and rejuvenate to help reconnect with the divine. Likewise, as we Move Forward we must also intentionally Look around and build our awareness of other aspects of Gods creation. Operating on auto pilot will cause us to begin neglecting the larger picture God is developing right in our midst. Genesis 4:9 states, Then the Lord said to Cain, Where is your brother Abel? He said, I do not know; am I my brother s keeper? 10 And the Lord said, What have you done?... Pastor D. Marie 2
