Brief History Civilization first emerged in china in 1700 BC around the Shang period in which the Chinese had hereditary kings, not dynasties of emperors. Dynasties emerged during the Feudal era, after which Confucianism, Taoism and other philosophical schools formed. 1500 years later, China was unified and begun the first empire. 20 dynasties later, the republic period happened and the Peoples Republic of China was formed.
