Children Sabbath School Lesson #200 for 10-15-2016 Song for opening the Sabbath School: Our Opening Scripture Song is from the Book of Psalms 19:7-11 (KJV) The law of the LORD [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD [is] sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD [are] right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD [is] pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD [is] clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD [are] true [and] righteous altogether. More to be desired [are they] than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: [and] in keeping of them [there is] great reward. (2 xs) Opening Prayer requesting one of the little ones or mommies or daddies to give prayer Lesson #200: Tradition Part 3 Ecclesiastes 12:14 (KJV) For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil. This Sabbath boys and girls, we will end with part 3 of our lesson entitle, Tradition in our study book Desire of Ages! Revelation 12:17 (KJV) And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Matthew 15:12 (KJV) Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? Matthew 15:13 (KJV) But he answered and said, every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Psalms 119:97 (KJV) MEM. O how love I thy law! it [is] my meditation all the day. Psalms 119:98 (KJV) Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they [are] ever with me. Psalms 119:99 (KJV) I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies [are] my meditation. Psalms 119:100 (KJV) I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts. Matthew 15:9 (KJV) But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men. Children s Sabbath School _ Lesson#200 (10.15.16) Page 1

Let s continue in our book Desire of Ages, Chapter #42, pages 398 The disciples noted the rage of the spies as their false teaching was exposed. They saw the angry looks, and heard the half-muttered words of dissatisfaction and revenge. Forgetting how often Christ had given evidence that He read the heart as an open book, they told Him of the effect of His words. Hoping that He might conciliate the enraged officials, they said to Jesus, Knowest Thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? {DA 398.1} Question: How did the disciples notice the rage of the spies? And, how often had Christ given evidence of the effect of His words? Answer: They saw the angry looks, and heard the half-muttered words of dissatisfaction and revenge as their false teaching was exposed. And, He read the heart as an open book. Song: let s learn our first song together dear ones from the book, The Ministry of Healing of Spirit of Prophecy! Encouraging Quotes MH - The Ministry of Healing Page 122 Paragraph 1 & 3 (SOP) The same power that Christ exercised when He walked visibly among men is in His word (2 xs) The (same 2 xs) power In them He is speaking to us individually, as directly as if we could listen to His voice. It is in these promises that Christ communicates to us His grace and power. They are leaves from that tree which is "for the healing of the nations." (2 xs) Received, assimilated, they are to be the strength of the character, the inspiration and sustenance of the life. Nothing besides can impart the courage and faith which give vital energy (2 xs) to the whole being. Ministry of Healing page 122 He answered, Every plant, which My heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. The customs and traditions so highly valued by the rabbis were of this world, not from heaven. However great their authority with the people, they could not endure the testing of God. Every human invention that has been substituted for the commandments of God will be found worthless in that day when God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecclesiastes 12:14. {DA 398.2} Question: What happens to customs, traditions or every human invention that has been substituted for the commandments of God? And, when shall they be found worthless? Answer: Jesus answered, Every plant, which My heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. And, they will be found worthless in that day when God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Children s Sabbath School _ Lesson#200 (10.15.16) Page 2

The substitution of the precepts of men for the commandments of God has not ceased. Even among Christians are found institutions and usages that have no better foundation than the traditions of the fathers. Such institutions, resting upon mere human authority, have supplanted those of divine appointment. Men cling to their traditions, and revere their customs, and cherish hatred against those who seek to show them their error. In this day, when we are bidden to call attention to the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, we see the same enmity as was manifested in the days of Christ. Of the remnant people of God it is written, The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:17. {DA 398.3} Question: Has the substitution of the precepts of men for the commandments of God ceased today? And, on what are such institutions resting upon? Answer: No! Even among Christians are found institutions and usages that have no better foundation than the traditions of the fathers. And, they are resting upon mere human authority, have supplanted those of divine appointment. Song: let s learn another song together dear ones from the book, The Great Controversy of the Spirit of Prophecy! Encouraging Quotes GC - The Great Controversy Page 598 Paragraph 2 (SOP) It is the first and highest duty of every rational being to learn from the Scriptures what is truth, and then to walk in the light and encourage others to follow his example. We should day by day study the Bible diligently, weighing every thought and comparing scripture with scripture. With divine help we are to form our opinions for ourselves as we are to answer for ourselves before God. Great Controversy Page 598 Question: What will also happen in this day as was manifested in the days of Christ when we are bidden to call attention to the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus? Answer: The hatred against those who seek to show them their error, of the remnant people of God it is written, The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. But every plant, which My heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. In place of the authority of the so-called fathers of the church, God bids us accept the word of the eternal Father, the Lord of heaven and earth. Here alone is truth unmixed with error. David said, I have more understanding than all my teachers: for Thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Thy precepts. Psalm 119:99, 100. Let all who accept human authority, the customs of the church, or the traditions of the fathers, take heed to the warning conveyed in the words of Christ, In vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. {DA 398.4} Children s Sabbath School _ Lesson#200 (10.15.16) Page 3

Question: In place of the authority of the so-called fathers of the church, what does God bids us do? And, what did David say we can have when we accept the word of the eternal Father? Answer: He bids us to accept the word of the eternal Father, the Lord of heaven and earth for here alone is truth unmixed with error. And, I have more understanding than all my teachers: for Thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Thy precepts. Song: let s learn yet another scripture song together dear ones from the book of Psalms! Psalms 119:99 through 100 I have more understanding than all my teachers: because I keep thy precepts Question: What warning is conveyed in the words of Christ for all to take heed, regarding those who accept human authority, the customs of the church, or the traditions of the fathers? Answer: To take heed to the warning conveyed in the words of Christ, In vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Song: Let s learn our last scripture song together dear ones from the book of Jeremiah! Jeremiah 9:23, 24 (KJV) Character Building Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches: Thus saith the LORD (2 xs) But let him that glorieth glory in this, (2 xs) Let he understandeth and knoweth me, that I [am] the LORD I [am] the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these [things] I delight, saith the LORD. Gather the little ones together! It s Story Time! Our book selection this Sabbath is entitle, Sons and Daughters of God Chapter 4-Changes Our Constant Complaining to Praise Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Psalm 107:8. {SD 116.1} We are heaven-bound, and we should show the attractive part of our faith. We should not go as a crippled band of mourners, groaning and complaining all along the journey to our Father's house. {SD 116.2} Those professed Christians who are constantly complaining, who seem to think happiness and a cheerful countenance a sin, have not the genuine attributes of religion. Those who look upon nature's beautiful scenery as they would upon a dead picture; who choose to look upon dead leaves rather than to gather the beautiful flowers; who take a mournful pleasure in all that is melancholy in the language spoken to them by the natural world; who see no beauty in valleys clothed in living green, and grand mountain heights clothed with verdure; who close their senses to the joyful voice that speaks to them in nature,...--these are not in Christ. {SD 116.3} Suppose we change this order of things.... Suppose you try to count all your blessings. You have thought so little upon them, and they have been so continual, that when reverses or afflictions come, you are grieved, and think God is unjust. You do not call to mind how little gratitude you have manifested for all the blessings of God. You have not deserved them; but because they have flowed in upon you day by day, year by year, you have looked upon them as a matter of course, thinking it was your right to receive every advantage, and give nothing in return.... The blessings of God are more than the hairs of our head, more than the sands of the seashore. Meditate upon His love and care for us, and may it inspire you with love that trials cannot interrupt nor afflictions quench. {SD 116.4} If we could only see the many dangers from which we are daily preserved by the holy angels, instead of complaining of our trials and misfortunes, we would talk continually of the mercies of God. {SD 116.5} Next Week: We will begin a new chapter in lesson entitle, Barriers Broken Down of our book Desire of Ages Closing Prayer request one of the little ones or mommies or daddies to give prayer. Next Sabbath: Chapter 43 Barriers Broken Down Sabbath October 22, 2016. Children s Sabbath School _ Lesson#200 (10.15.16) Page 5
