WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS PRAISE AND PRAYER PRELUDE Meditation on Beautiful Savior arr. Cathy Moklebust *CALL TO WORSHIP Based on Psalm 119 How beautiful is the word of the Lord! How wise are God s commandments! Through the Lord s precepts, we gain understanding. Through God s wisdom, we find truth. The Lord is our God; we are God s people. God s word lives within us, for it is written on our hearts. Living Word, Great Teacher, lead us in the way of your cross. Amen. *PROCESSIONAL HYMN (No. 116) Kristen Surratt The God of Abraham Praise *OPENING PRAYER O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. PROCLAMATION OF GOD S WORD HYMN OF PREPARATION Speak, O Lord Speak O Lord as we come to You To receive the food of Your holy word Take Your truth plant it deep in us Shape and fashion us in Your likeness That the light of Christ might be seen today In our acts of love and our deeds of faith Speak O Lord and fulfill in us All Your purposes for Your glory Teach us Lord full obedience Holy reverence true humility Test our thoughts and our attitudes In the radiance of Your purity Cause our faith to rise Getty/Townend

Cause our eyes to see Your majestic love and authority Words of power that can never fail Let their truth prevail over unbelief Speak O Lord and renew our minds Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us Truths unchanged from the dawn of time That will echo down through eternity And by grace we'll stand on Your promises And by faith we'll walk as You walk with us Speak O Lord till Your church is built And the earth is filled with Your glory *GOSPEL LESSON (NT Pg. 43) Mark 8: 27-38 This is the Word of God for the people of God.
