HELP THE POOR SOULS IN PURGATORY! The month of November is dedicated to the Poor Souls in Purgatory. These holy souls suffer atrociously from the purifying flames and from the temporary separation from God s beatifying vision. It is a work of mercy to alleviate their pains, which we may do by offering Holy Masses, good works and penances and also indulgences. An Indulgence is the remission of temporal punishment (not of sin), that is the penance and reparation God demands in this world and in this temporal order even after we have obtained the forgiveness of eternal punishment (hell). The Catholic Church draws them from the big treasure of the merits of Our Divine Savior, His blessed Mother and all the martyrs and saints. How do we gain indulgences? In general, indulgences may be applied to the living or the dead. 1. For a partial indulgence: You should be in the state of grace and have the general intention of gaining them. Then you can obtain them by all your prayers, sacrifices and alms as a gift of God. 2. For a plenary indulgence: You must accomplish a prescribed work (while being in the state of grace). For instance, to visit the Blessed Sacrament for at least half an hour or visit the cemetery. Pray for the intentions of the Holy Father one Our Father and One Hail Mary. Go to Confession within 7 days before or after we have accomplished the prescribed work. Go to communion within 7 days before or after we have accomplished the prescribed work. It is however fitting to go to communion on the same day we accomplish the prescribed work. Be free from any attachment to sin, even to venial sin. As this is not so often the case, most plenary indulgences we get, are in fact large partial indulgences. A single sacramental confession suffices for gaining several plenary indulgences. Holy Communion must be received and prayer for the intention of the Holy Father must be recited for the gaining of a plenary indulgence (each day). We can obtain only one plenary indulgence a day, but in addition to that we may acquire many partial indulgences.

ANNOUNCEMENTS November 29 - December 7 Novena of the Immaculate Conception As we prepare for the celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, join us daily after Mass as we sing the Tota Pulchra es and the Novena Prayer. (following page) December 8 after High Mass Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament and Solemn Renewal of the Total Consecration of the Institute to the Immaculate Conception After High Mass join us again for the renewal of the Total Consecration of the Institute to the immaculately conceived Virgin Mary in union with Monsignor Gilles Wach, all the priests, sisters, oblates, members of the society of the sacred heart and the faithful throughout the world. Prostrate before our Eucharistic Lord when reciting together the act of consecration (to be found after the Novena Prayers) all souls, families, schools, chapels and churches, apostolates and Missions shall be covered anew with the most pure Virgin s mantle: blessings will continue to abound and she will crush the proud serpent s head: IPSA CONTERET. SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE MOST BLESSED VIRGIN: Gain a plenary indulgence! Again this year the Immaculate Conception is going to be a triumphant feast not only for the universal Church. The Immaculate Mother of God is the special Patron and heavenly intercessor of the United States of America, and she is also the primary Patron of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. We would like you to know that all the faithful assisting at Holy Mass that day in one of the Institute s churches or oratories are able to gain a plenary indulgence under the ordinary conditions. As a matter of fact, several years ago the Holy See privileged the Institute s members and its faithful with a plenary indulgence for the main patronal feasts, which are: The Feast of Christ the King (last Sunday in October) and the Feasts of the Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8th), of Saint Francis de Sales (January 29), of St. Thomas Aquinas (March 7) and of St. Benedict (March 21).

Novena to the Immaculate Conception November29th - December7th. O MOST HOLY Virgin who wast pleasing to God and didst become His Mother. Immaculate in your body, in your soul, in your faith and in your love, we beseech thee to look graciously upon the wretched who implore thy powerful protection. The wicked serpent, against whom the primal curse was hurled, continues nonetheless to wage war and to lay snares for the unhappy children of Eve. Ah, do thou, our blessed Mother, our Queen and Advocate, who from the first instant of thy conception didst crush the head of our enemy, receive the prayers that we unite singleheartedly to thine and conjure thee to offer at the throne of God, that we may never fall into the snares that are laid for us, in such wise that we may all come to the haven of salvation; and in the midst of so many dangers may holy Church and the fellowship of Christians everywhere sing once more the hymn of deliverance, victory and peace. Amen.

Prayer of Consecration to the Immaculate Conception December 8th In the presence of God Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and with heaven and earth as our witness, we prostrate ourselves at thy feet, O Mary, Our Lady. We acknowledge Thee as our Mother, as the Immaculate Conception, living tabernacle of the Divinity, as Queen of angels and of men, as Mother of the Church and of the Catholic priesthood, and as refuge of the afflicted. That is why, small and weak that we are, we wish to consecrate to Thee our Institute, our families, our persons, our works, our future, all that pertains to us and is in us, and which God, in His immeasurable goodness, has entrusted to us for our good use. We also consecrate to Thee the value of our good actions, past, present, and future, leaving to Thee the entire and full right of disposing of us and all that belongs to us. Mary, be our Mother; sanctify us, purify us, correct us, guide us, pray for us and protect us. Help us to perfectly fulfill the duties of our state of life. Extinguish in us all self-love, which prevents Thy Divine Son, King and Sovereign Priest, from reigning in and around us. Cover abundantly with thy maternal protection all the parishes, chapels, schools, works and missions entrusted to the Institute, and mayest Thou forever impede the devil from reigning, in any manner, in this Institute which desires to be entirely Thine for the greater glory of God, the exaltation of our Mother the Holy Catholic Church, and for the conversion of sinners. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady for the Restoration of our Church O Mother of Perpetual Help, thou art the dispenser of all the gifts which God grants to us miserable sinners; and for this end He has made thee so powerful, so rich, and so bountiful, in order that thou mayest help us in our misery. Thou art the advocate of the most wretched and abandoned sinners who have recourse to thee: come to our aid, for we recommend ourselves to thee. In thy hands we place our eternal salvation, and to thee we entrust our souls. Count us among thy most devoted servants; take us under thy protection, and it is enough for us. For, if thou protect us, we fear nothing; not from our sins, because thou wilt obtain for us the pardon of them; nor from the devils, because thou art more powerful than all hell together; nor even from Jesus, our judge, because by one prayer from thee He will be appeased. But one thing we fear: that in the hour of temptation we may through negligence fail to have recourse to thee and thus perish miserably. Obtain for us, therefore, the pardon of our sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace ever to have recourse to thee, O Mother of Perpetual Help. December 15, 2007 On December 15, we will be having an all day "cleaning day," to finalize the necessary preparations in order to celebrate Christmas in our church. There is much yet that has to be completed. Projects will include a thorough cleaning of the church vestibules and the sacristy, dusting of the column bases throughout the building, and sweeping of the entire church floor. Bring your buckets and other cleaning supplies to help out! We will begin after the morning Mass and hope to be finished around 2:00 pm. A light lunch will be provided. Any questions, please contact the office. (Readings of the Sunday Masses, continued from following Page) FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT, DECEMBER 2 Epistle: Rom. 13, 1-14. Brethren, knowing the time, that it is now the hour for us to rise from sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we believed. The night is past, and the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and impurities, not in contention and envy; but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ. Gospel: Luke 21, 25-33. At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: There shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars: and upon the earth distress of nations, by reason of the confusion of the roaring of the sea and of the waves, men withering away for fear and expectation of what shall come upon the whole world. For the powers of heaven shall be moved; and then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with great power and majesty. But when these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption Is at hand. And He spoke to them a similitude: See the fig-tree, and all the trees: when they now shoot forth their fruit, you know that summer is nigh; so you also, when you shall see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is at hand. Amen I say to you, this generation shall not pass away, till all things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.

TWENTY FOURTH AND LAST SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST, NOVEMBER 25 Epistle: Col. 1, 9-14. Brethren, We cease not to pray for you, and to beg that you may be filled with the knowledge of the will of God, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of God, in all things pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might according to the power of His glory, in all patience and long-suffering with joy; giving thanks to God the Father, Who hath made us worthy to be partakers of the lot of the saints in light; Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in Whom we have redemption through His blood, the remission of sins. Gospel: Matt. 24, 15-35. At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, When you shall see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place; he that readeth, let him understand: then they that are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains; and he that is on the house-top, let him not come down to take anything out of his house; and he that is in the field, let him not go back to take his coat. And woe to them that are with child, and that give suck, in those days. But pray that your flight be not in the winter, or on the sabbath: for there shall be then great tribulation, such as has not been found from the beginning of the world until now, neither shall be: and unless those days had been shortened no flesh should be saved; but for the sake of the elect, those days shall be shortened. Then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ, or there do not believe him: for there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. Behold, I have told it to you beforehand: if they therefore shall say to you, Behold, He is in the desert, go ye not out; behold, He is in the closets, believe it not. For as lightning cometh out of the east, and appeareth even into the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Wheresoever the body shall be, there shall the eagles also be gathered together. And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be moved; and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn; and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with much power and majesty: and He shall send His angels with a trumpet and a great voice and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest parts of the heavens to the utmost bounds of them. And from the fig-tree learn a parable: when the branch thereof is now tender, and the leaves come forth, you know that summer is nigh. So you also, when you shall see all these things, know ye that it is nigh even at the doors. Amen I say to you, that this generation shall not pass till all these things be done. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away. (Continued on the previous Page )
