It is important that we not stay mired in the past but look forward. This Jubilee Year of Mercy offers us an opportunity to look at our life and our world with a different perspective; one of hope, compassion and peace. Many around us want us to see doom and gloom, hopelessness, and despair in the world and its situations. It is important for our spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being to look at our life as being positive and hopeful. Paranoia should not be a norm. As we celebrate the conclusion of the Christmas season with the Baptism of the Lord, I invite you to maintain the joy, peace, and hope of Christ throughout the year. Make a promise to yourself that you will not let the buggers get to you but that you will remain hope filled and mercy full. PAGE 4 Fr. Greg and Fr. Len invite you to join them on a Jubilee Year of Mercy Pilgrimage to Rome, Assisi and other Italian Cities, November 9 18. The trip includes breakfast and dinner daily, round trip travel via British Airways, and ground transportation to and from Newark Airport as well as throughout the trip. JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY As we conclude this Christmas Season, we acknowledge Jesus as the Human Face of God s Mercy. The grace that was revealed in our world is Jesus, born of the of the virgin Mary, truly human and divine. He has entered our history and shared our journey. He came to free us from darkness and grant us light. In him was revealed God s grace, mercy, and tender love. Jesus is God s love and mercy incarnate. He is not simply a wisdom teacher or an ideal for which we strive while knowing that we are hopelessly distant from it. He is the meaning of life and history, who has pitched his tent in our midst. Jesus has awakened great hopes, especially in the hearts of the simple, the humble, the poor, the forgotten, those who do not matter in the eyes of the world. He understands human suffering. He has shown the face of God s mercy and bent down to heal us, body and soul. May we feel God s presence beside us, his mercy, and also his help. 2015 CONTRIBUTION STATEMENT Please send an email request to Christine at: finance@ollwhs.org.
