Game Summary The first level takes place in the Garden of Eden. God goes to check on Adam and Eve. Upon finding a discarded apple core in Adam s hut, He realizes that the first two humans have betrayed Him. When He goes to confront them, He finds them both gorging on apples from the forbidden Tree of Knowledge and under the influence of Satan. The ensuing battle is fought against Satan s minion, the demon Beelzebub, who has possessed Adam, getting the two mortals cast out of Eden and leading God to discover the challenge of retaining people s faith. Levels two and three involve two of the Old Testament s most famous stories. The player must manage the struggle between Cain and Able and test Abraham s faith by seeing if he ll sacrifice his son. The game is completed when God discovers Satan s earthly headquarters, passes through a large graveyard full of attacking demons, and finally engages in battle with Satan, who flees when his health is drained. In the end, God talks Jesus into going to Earth to spread His word. Little does Christ know that his journey will inevitably lead to crucifixion and martyrdom, ensuring that faith in God is established for all time!

Back Story The Faithening begins with God checking in on his first and most beloved creations, Adam and Eve. Upon finding a discarded apple core in Adam s hut, god is shocked to discover that he has been betrayed. When confronting Adam, He finds that His creations have been possessed by Satan, who has tainted the Garden of Eden. A battle ensues, and Adam and Eve are cast out of paradise. Some time afterwards, God discovers that Adam and Eve, still angered by God s retribution, have begotten scores of descendants with no faith in Him. Thus begins God s quest to ensure that all the Earth s people know that He is their god, and to secure their faith for eternity. God is a large, muscular, slightly spaced out deity whose existence depends on faith. Without the faith of his creations, his powers fade. Satan is the principal adversary of God. Satan is angry at God for casting him out of Heaven, and has vowed to do anything he can to impede His quest for faith. The angel Gabriel is God s only friend and a somewhat unusual character who gives him advice and questionable moral support. The key challenges in The Faithening involve moments, such as early bible stories like that of Abraham and his son. God is forced to find the cause of these absences of faith and rectify them (either through a conversation in which God demonstrates his wisdom and power to win the faith of his subjects, or a turn-based battle between God and one of Satan s minions, a demonicallypossessed Adam). Other than direct confrontation with Satan, the player must confront Satan s demonic minions. The game is won when Satan s earthly avatar is destroyed, and the player provides Jesus Christ as a martyr, securing the people s continued faith in Him.
