Dear Beth Jacob member, Elul 5775 / September 2015 Over the years, many members of our shul have expressed an interest in acquiring a final resting place in the land of Israel, for after 120 years. Questions regarding the best way to approach this abound, however, and people have been seeking guidance in considering this opportunity which has become more feasible in recent times. For the past several months, Beth Jacob s Cemetery Guardians have been researching this matter, considering various options, and determining the best way to assist our members. We are pleased to share the following update: Beth Jacob has reserved an exclusive section for our members at the Eretz HaChaim Cemetery in Beit Shemesh, Israel. Eretz HaChaim has, for over five decades, been assisting Jews in acquiring a befitting final resting place in Israel. Not far from Jerusalem, the picturesque setting and meticulous maintenance of the grounds has made Eretz HaChaim a place of choice for thousands of Jews from around the world. A number of beloved late members of our Atlanta community have been buried at Eretz HaChaim. Eretz HaChaim provides a full range of support services at the time of bereavement so that the transfer to Israel and last rites are performed according to Halacha and with the appropriate sensitivity and dignity. Burial plots for individuals, couples, and families can now be reserved and purchased in the new Beth Jacob section. As per our Torah sources, it is considered appropriate and even commendable for people of all ages to consider purchasing a burial plot for after 120 years. Beth Jacob s Cemetery Guardians have appointed Yonasan Gavant as the chairman of this project. Yonasan is available to answer any questions and to guide interested members through the registration process. He can be reached by phone at 404-844-7324 or by email at bethjacobplots@gmail.com. The current standard price per plot is $6,500, which includes the plot and one-time cemetery maintenance and upkeep fee. Additional costs, as enumerated in the attached Eretz HaChaim information package, would need to be incurred later for the actual funeral and burial services, as well as for local chevra kadisha services, and transporting the niftar to Israel. All costs are subject to increase, but members of Beth Jacob can lock in current pricing with registration and prepayment. Plots in the Beth Jacob section can be paid for with an interest-free payment plan spread over 24 months. Payments can be made by check or credit card. Please note that the price of plots and maintenance at Eretz HaChaim will be increasing to $8,000 effective October 31 st, 2015. Therefore, there is a substantial cost savings for those who are able to register and lock in the current pricing prior to that date. A full prepay option is also available which includes all costs involved from Atlanta through burial in Israel. Please contact Yonasan Gavant for further details. If you are interested in acquiring plots under this program, please complete the enclosed registration form and use one of these options to submit it: 1) Scan and email it to bethjacobplots@gmail.com 2) Mail it to Eretz HaChaim c/o Yonasan Gavant, 2250 North Druid Hills Rd. Suite 235, Atlanta, GA 30329 3) Fax it to 404-633-0799. After your registration form is reviewed and accepted, a confirmation letter and receipt will be mailed to you with your designated plot area. Once full payment is received, the official cemetery certificate deed will be issued and mailed to you. For additional information, please see the following pages or contact Yonasan Gavant. It is our prayer that the plots in Eretz HaChaim will be a segulah for a long and healthy life for you and your family, filled with Hashem s richest blessing. Wishing you a Kesiva V Chasima Tova may you be inscribed for a good and healthy new year, Rabbi Ilan D. Feldman Yonasan Gavant, Chairman, Israel Burial Plots Committee
