The Blue Max Team hopes that you are all well and enjoying the warm weather. We have had warm weather here, too, accompanied by winds and dust. Its nothing that we did not already expect coming into Afghanistan, but still one of those things we could live without. This past month, and the beginning of this month, we have been busy maintaining aircraft, flying and all the other things we do to make life here more livable. Our new gym has been upgraded with air conditioning and we expect a newer tent facility within the next few weeks. We have seen several promotions and reenlistments since the last issue as well. Everyone is doing well and readying themselves, the aircraft and equipment for the last few months before we will be home. We hope you enjoy this issue of the monthly. Stay well and hope to see you soon. -BM7 H AIL A N D FAREWELL This month Blue Max will hail the newest old member of our team, SPC Jason Halstead. He recently deployed to Bagram, but is not new to the Company. SPC Halstead has deployed with Blue Max prior, and we are glad to have him back with us. The team bids a farewell to CW4 Patrick Bohlken who is moving to 277 ASB. We wish him luck in his new assignment with 277. He will continue to fly with us, so we should still see him around our company area. Good luck! We are happy to announce that SPC Kevin Dunn welcomed his new baby boy, Isaiah, to the world on 1 July 2011. SPC Dunn and his wife, Victoria, are doing well, as he left for leave to see his new child and spend some time with his wife. Congratulations! Finally, congratulations to two of our officers, CPT Shadwick, and CPT Gray, on their promotions this month. The team is proud of them and looking forward to the great things they will accomplish as Captains. In addition, we congratulate SGT Drosten on his reenlistment in June. Stay Army!

Without this support, the Blue Max family would be significantly hindered! -Thank You! 1 SG S CORNER Hello to all the Blue Max families and friends. We are moving along here, into the warmer months of this deployment, thankfully the heat is not overwhelming. We are also experiencing winds and dust that are keeping us from flying. We are, however, still able to begin planning our exit from this deployment and have begun doing so, even in the beginning stages. We are focusing some of our efforts on the move home, but still maintaining vigilance in our daily missions. It is encouraging to know that we are close to coming home, and I feel certain that you all feel the same. The Soldiers have been performing in an outstanding professional manner, and I know that they will continue to do so despite the adversity we face. None of these things are possible without the support of the families and friends who support us so well. Thanks to Mrs. Wojasinski and Mrs. Bachmeyer for continuing the outstanding projects and support from the Family Readiness Group. The Blue Max team and I genuinely appreciate the time, effort and energy that you put into the program, and we are proud to have such caring and supportive people watching over us. Thank you, sincerely. With all that is going on and has gone on already, the team is still striving forward, taking care of themselves and more importantly, taking care of each other. We have been able to move forward from setbacks, and the reason is clear: Your support of your loved ones, and the whole Blue Max family, keeps us going. I thank you for all that you do. Take care. Talk to you again, soon. -1SG Clay For God, For Country, For Blue Max. C O M M A N D E R S W O R D S July is here and we happily welcome it s coming! We are one month closer to coming home to our families and being done with a challenging deployment. We received a wonderful care package from the FRG that contained grass skirts and coconut bras. Pictures will follow soon as I am sure you will all enjoy a good laugh from them. This month, we will bid farewell to CW4 Patrick Bohlken as he will be transitioning to the 277th Aviation Support Battalion. We are all extremely thankful for the hard work and dedication he has put in to making Blue Max successful during and prior to the deployment. Mr. Bohlken s friendship, guidance and mentorship will be missed by all. Congratulations to both CPT Shadwick and CPT Gray on their promotions this month. For those of you who didn't know, they were both promotable to CPT on the 1st of July. I had the opportunity to promote CPT Shadwick on the 1st and will promote CPT Gray as soon as he returns from an ongoing mission. Also, congratulations to CW3 Aaron Champ as he is the newest Pilot in Command in Blue Max. Congratulations on a job well done. Have a great 4th of July!! -BM6 CPT Sean Reeves

For God, For Country, For Blue Max S A F E T Y FIRST Happy July everyone and welcome to another edition of Safety First. June was a good month for the Soldiers of Blue Max with no injuries to report. Since I have nothing to write about on our side of the world, I have a couple of things to share with you that the Army deems important enough to push through Safety channels: 1) Drop-side cribs with detaching side rails were associated with at least 32 infant fatalities since 2000. Some states voted unanimously to approve new mandatory crib standards, establishing the most stringent crib safety standards in the world. So for all the families with children, please make sure that your purchases meet the new CPSC standards. 2) For the summer fun, we must be diligent in our efforts to heighten our pool side awareness. Since Memorial Day, there have been 48 drowning and 75 neardrowning incidents in 35 states and territories reported by the media. So please, to my Blue Max Family, keep your eyes open towards these weekends and the days beyond. So to wrap up this edition of Safety First, I would like you, the family of Blue Max, to please mind your surroundings because the dangers we experience here in country are no more than what you have to deal with stateside. STAY SAFE!!! FLY SAFE!!! BLUE MAX!!! CW2 Mark Foschetti
