Holy Family Parish INVESTMENT IN YOUR PARISH We are very blessed in our city to have 2 campuses for our parish. Yes, there are growing pains as we become one in name and in reality, but these will make us stronger in the long run. Your councils have been in discussion for many months concerning the physical plant structure of our parish, and how this will look in the future. Specifically, this will be a statement that our parish is not going away. In fact, our hope is in the future of our parish and community, and we have an opportunity to create something new. Will there be sacrifices needed? Indeed, but when has this not been the case? Imagine the sacrifice needed in the early 1800 s when Fr. Mazzuchelli expressed his vision, and St. Gabriel parish was raised from the foundation of St. John the Baptist parish here in Prairie du Chien. Again, many sacrifices were made in the late 1800 s when St. John Nepomuc was born as an extension of St Gabriel parish to reach the Bohemian immigrants, and a new parish church was built. Today, we have the opportunity to continue building the path our ancestors forged. They were pioneers, and in a real sense we, too, are pioneers. In fact, as far as our faith goes, we are called to be pioneers our entire life. We can never be satisfied with what was because that is when our faith becomes stagnant. As pioneers, they took the greatness of what they had received from their ancestors and forged new ground, building something greater from what the foundation they had received. We, too, have an opportunity to take what we have received and build something we can be proud to hand off to the next generation. This is the underlying philosophy of any proposals that will be coming forward. Some of these may challenge the status quo; in fact most will challenge this. In the end, it is an attempt to make the investment necessary to see that the rich traditions of both St. Gabriel and St. John Nepomuc blend into a stronger, more vibrant Holy Family. May God continue to shed his blessings upon us and our loved ones. Fr Jim INQUIRERY LETTERS As we continue in our planning preparations for our parish campuses, many of our parishioners will be asked to participate in one way or another. This week a number of letters were sent from the parish office to a cross-section of parishioners, and next week another letter will be sent to another group. If you received, or receive, a letter asking to take part in this process, either in the way of an interview or by filling out a questionnaire, please give prayerful consideration to participate. These are completely confidential, and are used by the consulting firm we have contracted with to gauge where the parish stands in this regard. It will be a chance to have your voice be heard, and is important as we go forward with our local planning. 3 PRAYER CORNER God, grant healing and peace to the sick of our communities and those who have requested our prayers. Please pray for John Felder, Ann Fulcher, Jim Coorough, Sis Jelinek, Elaine Shedivy, Nancy Patzner, Janelle Becwar, Virginia Eichmann, Carissa Waldo, Michael Hinrich, William Blake, Cathy Vondrum, Mildred Prew, Steve Moris, Mark Lochner, Tony Teynor, Eileen Sutton, Mary Ann Heisz, Jerry Matousek, Loren Fishler, LaVern Sutton, Roger Pellock, Janet Dickman, Peg Stoeffler, Maxim Kramer, John & Cheyenne Messling, Earl Nye, Ethel Sebastian, Earl Whittle, Tara Pellock, Lavonne Laskaskie, Gary Adams, Margaret Konichek, Geraldine Barr, Marguerite Begnoche, Jill Spinna, Roberta Marfilius, Ann Rowe, Bill McCoy, Randy Radsek, Edith Ritchie, Scott LaBonne, Debbie Eden, Walt Hermsen, Amy Stroschein, Mark Gilberts, Ann Dohse, Lara Czajkowski Higgins, Carrie Breuer, Mae & Merv Nimbar, and Dale Boldt. If you have a special intention or loved one who is in need of prayers; please let us know so we can include them. Parish Support This Year Last Year Envelopes for July 21st $7972.00 $8,540.00 Plate for July 21st 781.61 893.90 Total $8,753.61 $9,433.90 The second collection came to $476.43 and will be used for school and CCD expenses. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! RAFFLE TICKETS No, we did not make a mistake with the raffle tickets. As we prepare for our fall bazaar and fall fest at our two parish churches, everyone will receive a set of raffle tickets to sell. This is another adjustment as we continue growing in our identity as Holy Family Parish. This was begun with some of our dinners last year, when we sent tickets to everyone, and overall this has been received positively. Our parish list is now combined as one, and all parish mailings going forward will be sent to everyone. Thank you for understanding, and please continue to pray for our parish family.
