We gather in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Confession and Forgiveness Silence for reflection God of all mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess our sin, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Amen Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and one another. Gracious God, have mercy on us. We confess that we have turned from you and given ourselves into the power of sin. We are truly sorry and humbly repent. In your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things we have done and things we have failed to do. Turn us again to you, and uphold us by your Spirit, so that we may live and serve you in newness of life through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen 3
God, who is rich in mercy, loved us while we where still sinners. Because of Jesus and his death and resurrection, I declare to you the entire forgiveness of all you sin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Let us worship in freedom and grace. Amen. Thanks be to God. Hymn Create in Me a Clean Heart francke The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Lesson 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord s death until he comes. WE INVITE CHILDREN TO DOCK AT THIS TIME Please make sure your child is wearing a nametag with name and grade level. ************* See FRONT OF INSERT for Pickup Locations ************** Hymn In the Singing bread of peace 5
Psalm 145:1-5 Read in unison I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you, and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall laud your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. Anthem Cantique de Jean Racine Gabriel Fauré St Andrew s Choir O Redeemer divine, our sole hope of salvation, Eternal Light of the earth and the sky, We kneel in adoration, O Savior, turn on us Thy loving eye. Send down on us the fire of Thy grace all consuming, Whose wondrous might, whose wondrous might dispersed the powers of hell, And rouse our slumbering souls with radiance all illum ning, That they may waken Thy mercy to tell! O Christ, bestow Thy blessing on us, we implore Thee Who here are gathered on penitent knee, Accept the hymns we chant to Thine everlasting glory And these Thy gifts we return unto Thee. Holy Gospel Mark 14:1-9 Glory to you, O Lord. It was two days before the Passover and the festival of Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him; for they said, Not during the festival, or there may be a riot among the people. While he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very costly ointment of nard, and she broke open the jar and poured the ointment on his head. But some were there who said to one Continued on next page 6
another in anger, Why was the ointment wasted in this way? For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor. And they scolded her. But Jesus said, Let her alone; why do you trouble her? She has performed a good service for me. For you always have the poor with you, and you can show kindness to them whenever you wish; but you will not always have me. She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for its burial. Truly I tell you, wherever the good news is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in remembrance of her. Praise to you, O Christ. Sacrament of Holy Baptism 10:30 Winston Garry Norgaard-Erickson Son of Stephanie and Tanner Norgaard-Erickson Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen 7
