Hymn How Firm a Foundation foundation 5. The soul that on Jesus still leans for repose, I will not, I will not desert to its foes; That soul thou al hell should endeavor to shake, I ll never, no never, no never forsake! We gather in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Confession and Forgiveness If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Continued on next page 3

Hymn Gather Us In Most Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed; by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen Almighty God, in his great mercy, has given his Son to die for us and, for his sake, forgives us all our sins. As a minister of the Church of Christ, and by his authority, I declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen gather us in 4 Used with permission OneLicense.net #4543

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Prayer of the Day Lord Jesus, you have freed us from sin and called us to the greatest adventure in life to follow you and proclaim the good news to the whole world. Empower us with your Holy Spirit and bless us as we gather as brothers and sisters in the love and protection of your eternal care. Heal us with your Sacraments, inspire us with your Word, and transform us into your image so we may boldly proclaim your love to the whole world in word and in deed. In your name we pray. Amen Lesson Jeremiah 31:7-9 For thus says the Lord: Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, Save, O Lord, your people, the remnant of Israel. See, I am going to bring them from the land of the north, and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, those with child and those in labor, together; a great company, they shall return here. With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back, I will let them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble; for I have become a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. Anthem 9:00 The Solid Rock arr. Dennis Allen High School Choir 10:30 Praise Him, All Ye little Children Carly Bonner Choristers Presentation of Bibles to 3rd Graders 5

Hymn Thy Word thy word Children s Sermon Psalm 32:1-2, 5 Read in unison Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity; I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and you forgave the guilt of my sin. 6

Anthem Grace Before Sleep (Gratitude at the end of your day) How can our minds and bodies be grateful enough that we have spent, here in this generous room (my home, my church, my life) This evening of content? Each one of us has walked through storm and fled the wolves along the road; Holy Gospel Mark 2:1-12 Glory to you, O Lord. but here the hearth is wide and warm. And for this shelter and this light Accept, O Lord, our thanks tonight. And for this shelter and this light Accept, O Lord, Our thanks Tonight. Susan La Barr St. Andrew s Choir When Jesus returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home. So many gathered around that there was no longer room for them, not even in front of the door; and he was speaking the word to them. Then some people came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. And when they could not bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and after having dug through it, they let down the mat on which the paralytic lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, Son, your sins are forgiven. Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, Why does this fellow speak in this way? It is blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone? At once Jesus perceived in his spirit that they were discussing these questions among themselves; and he said to them, Why do you raise such questions in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, Your sins are forgiven, or to say, Stand up and take your mat and walk? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins he said to the paralytic I say to you, stand up, take your mat and go to your home. And he stood up, and immediately took the mat and went out before all of them; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, We have never seen anything like this! Praise to you, O Christ. Anthem 10:30 Zion s Walls arr. Mark Hayes New Dimension Singers Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Continued on next page 7

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
