RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS The high school students completed their final service project of the year last weekend. After a meditation on the spirituality and holiness of manual work, and specifically about cleaning, they performed a non-routine scouring of the parish center windows, sills, wood and glass on all doors, baseboards, stairs, railings, and the pews and glass in St. Agnes church. Thank you, high schoolers, for your assistance with these tasks. BLACK AND INDIAN MISSION COLLECTION The Black and Indian Mission Collection (BIMC) exists to help diocesan communities to build the Church and preach the Gospel of Jesus among the African American, Native American, and Alaska Native people of God. Every year, it is the amazing generosity of Catholic faithful just like you who enable the Black and Indian Mission Office to support the following important priorities: Enlivening Parish Life & Catechesis, Empowering Evangelizers, Helping Educators Reach Kids, and Encouraging Vocations. Attached to this week s bulletin is a collection envelop to support this worthy cause. STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION Today s readings remind us that baptism is God s most beautiful and magnificent gift (Catechism of the Catholic Church; 1216). In your Lenten Journey, May you re-commit yourself to living as Jesus disciple and passionate steward of all God s gifts in the kingdom of God. FAMILIES AND THE GOSPEL Mark 1:12-15- Jesus went into the desert to put his life in perspective. This lent, take a fresh look at a difficult relationship in your life. Concentrate on the positive things that a person does, not just the negatives. Try to understand why their behaviors bug you. Can you honestly share your feelings with them without attacking them? Make Lent a time to MEND and FORGIVE! HOLY SPIRIT PARISH OUTREACH The Outreach committee invites parishioners to consider becoming Eucharistic Ministers to take communion to homebound parishioners and those living in nursing homes. Please pray about joining this rewarding ministry or in joining the Outreach team in providing occasional support to our members when there is a need. This could be as simple as making a phone call or helping someone with shopping. Please call the Main Office at 570-748-7475 or Tanya Sechrist at 717-855-6283 if you feel God is calling you to help in this way. BAPTISM CONGRATULATIONS Rory Joseph Long, child of Patrick and Carol Long, was baptized and welcomed into our Parish Family. Please pray for his continued growth in faith. Jesus said, "Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Mark 10:13-16 IN LOVING MEMORY The Sanctuary candle for the second two weeks of February at Saint Agnes Church is burning in loving memory of Antoinette Barzona Cillo by Daughters, Michele and Mary. JOHN 1:4 In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. INTS OF THE WEEK: February 21 - St. Peter Damian February 22 - The Chair of St. Peter the Apostle February 23 - St. Polycarp THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Lenten Thought: The Lenten season affords us the opportunity to return to the root of the root of the Self. Now is the time to heed the summons to cease worthless activities and distracting trivialities that block a closer relationship with God. Set aside personal demands, nursing grudges, endless discouragements, leftover regrets, and stale excuses. Replace them all with God's overwhelming and abiding love found deep in the root of the root of the Self of your heart and soul." Sr. Joyce Rupp, Order of Servants of Mary, award-winning author, spiritual mid-wife, retreat and conference speaker.
