Discuss with the group a time when you were served or blessed beyond your expectations. How did it make you feel to have someone go beyond for you? PROMOTION Visit gobeyondus.com/promo to download various media graphics. BEYOND MAXIMUM IMPACT A Small Group Devotional What are your expectations? Whether unreasonably high, embarrassingly low, or somewhere in between, we all have expectations for others and ourselves. Think about your most recent experience in a restaurant. If the server met your expectation you might say, Meh, it was fine. If they missed your expectation, perhaps your tip spoke toward your measure of frustration. However, if you had the seemingly rare privilege of being served beyond your expectation, you were more than likely floored but why? Why does someone going the extra mile surprise us so? It s because going beyond is not the norm! After all, if it was normal we couldn t call it going beyond. Recently, I had an incredible experience with a service technician who worked on my home furnace. He was polite, competent, and even considerate enough to wear goofy looking booties over his already clean boots. He greeted me with a smile, asked for permission to enter my home, and then walked me through the goals for his visit. After welcoming any questions he went quietly and diligently about his work. Then, just before he left he asked, Are you satisfied with my visit and is there anything I can do to meet or exceed your expectations before I leave? All I could say was, Wait... what?! You see, this guy was able to go beyond and leave me speechless because he took the time to ask how he could do so. He had a go beyond attitude and a go beyond work ethic which left a go beyond impression that motivated me to go beyond myself. How about you? What about us? Are we ready to do what it takes to go beyond? SHARE
FUNDRAISING Our goal is to rally people to serve, but sometimes serving costs money. Your donation will help meet needs in our community, assist organizations being served, and provide supplies for our community-wide serving projects like last-resort construction projects, meal-packing for the hungry around the world, mobilizing thousands of people to clean our cities, or collecting food for those in need in our local area. Each year is costs tens of thousands of dollars to make these community-wide projects happen. The more you give, the more good we can do together.
