Y G S On September 18, after the 10:00am High Mass, please join Canon Commins in the Church hall for a presentation of the St. Francis de Sales youth groups. At this time, anyone ages 12-18 will have the opportunity to sign up for one of the groups. See you there! W? Two things: (1.) The static reservoir which regulates the airpressure has begun to fall apart at the seams. Once the reservoir falls apart, the organ will not have the air pressure it needs for the pipes to sound. The organ will be completely silent. (2.) The mechanical machines (balance valves) that exist beneath every large pipe of our organ are made of magnets, wiring, and leather. The leather has deteriorated to the point that those machines no longer function, causing many of the pedal pipes to sound simultaneously. C? The organ can be repaired! However, this won t be an easy fix and the Oratory must progress prudently. For example: the offending balance valves can be re-leathered (a very basic repair) but their placement is inside a chest that sits below nearly 1000 lbs. of wooden pipes. Practically speaking, moving 1000 lbs. of wooden pedal pipes is a job you only want to do once. H? The complete restoration will be broken into three phases totaling $320,000. The first phase will cost $49,000 and will get the organ up and running once again. The second phase will cost $186,000. The third and last phase will cost $85,000. Update on the organ repair project: So far, we have received $21,611.00 in donations for the repair of the organ, which is 43.7% of the costs of the first phase, and 6.7% of the total project volume. Thank you for your generous consideration. I A The remaining balance of $48,812.25 for the budget year 2015/16 has been paid from funds set aside for other pressing projects around the campus. Our 2016-2017 Insurance assessment is: $89,625.00. So far we have received $9,696.00 for this fiscal year that has just begun. If you would like to donate, please use the envelope Insurance Assessment which is mailed out monthly to all registered members of the Oratory. TO ALL OUR GUESTS Canon Wiener and the faithful of St. Francis de Sales Oratory welcome you, and hope that your time in the Cathedral of South St. Louis may be an opportunity to share in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Faith. Please enjoy the beauty of this building dedicated to St. Francis de Sales, co-patron of the INSTITUTE OF CHRIST THE KING SOVEREIGN PRIEST. According to liturgical tradition, and the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, Holy Communion is received kneeling and on the tongue. All visitors who are not of the Catholic faith are welcome to join us in prayer, but are requested not to receive Holy Communion. Because the reception of Holy Communion is the sign of Divine and Ecclesial unity, only practicing Catholics who are free of mortal sin, and in full communion with the Catholic Church should present themselves for Holy Communion. We pray for the full visible unity among all Christians. To receive more information about the Oratory or if you desire to become a member of the Catholic Church, contact the rectory.
