We gather in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Confession and Forgiveness God of all mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess our sin, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Amen Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and one another. Silence for reflection Gracious God, have mercy on us. We confess that we have turned from you and given ourselves into the power of sin. We are truly sorry and humbly repent. In your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things we have done and things we have failed to do. Turn us again to you, and uphold us by your Spirit, so that we may live and serve you in newness of life through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen God, who is rich in mercy, loved us while we were still sinners. Because of Jesus and his death and resurrection, I declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Let us worship in freedom and grace. Amen. Thanks be to God. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Prayer of the Day Holy God, through your Son you have called us to live faithfully, act courageously, and respond generously. Keep us steadfast in your covenant of grace, and teach us the wisdom that comes only through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen Hymn Oh, for a Thousand Tongues to Sing azmon Children s Sermon Anthem Pilgrim Song 4 American Folk Hymn; arr. by Ryan Murphy St. Andrew s Choir and New Dimension Singers My brethren, I have found a land that doth abound with fruit as sweet as honey; The more I eat I find the more I am inclined to shout and sing Hosanna! Chorus: My soul doth long to go where I may fully know the glory of my Savior. And as I pass along, I ll sing the Christian song. I m going to live forever! Perhaps you think me wild or simple as a child; I am a child of glory. I am born from above, my soul is filled with love; I love to tell the story. Chorus
Lesson Revelation 5:9-14 They sing a new song: You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slaughtered and by your blood you ransomed for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation; you have made them to be a kingdom and priests serving our God, and they will reign on earth. Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels surrounding the throne and the living creatures and the elders; they numbered myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, singing with full voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing! Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, singing, To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever! And the four living creatures said, Amen! And the elders fell down and worshiped. Psalm 150:1-6 Read in unison Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! 5
Hymn Rejoice, the Lord Is King darwall s 148th Sacrament of Holy Baptism 10:30 Elliot Burten Elfstrom Son of Katie and Bryan Elfstrom Vivian Kari Boesch Son of Brooke and Garrett Boesch Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen 6
Holy Gospel Mark 14:53-65 They took Jesus to the high priest; and all the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes were assembled. Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest; and he was sitting with the guards, warming himself at the fire. Now the chief priests and the whole council were looking for testimony against Jesus to put him to death; but they found none. For many gave false testimony against him, and their testimony did not agree. Some stood up and gave false testimony against him, saying, We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands. But even on this point their testimony did not agree. Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, Have you no answer? What is it that they testify against you? But he was silent and did not answer. Again the high priest asked him, Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One? Jesus said, I am; and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, Why do we still need witnesses? You have heard his blasphemy! What is your decision? All of them condemned him as deserving death. Some began to spit on him, to blindfold him, and to strike him, saying to him, Prophesy! The guards also took him over and beat him.
