FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Stewardship, A Way of Life Tithing God s Plan for Giving DUE TO THE WEEKLY BULLETIN DEADLINE BEING EARLY THIS PAST WEEK, THE JULY 2ND COLLECTION TOTALS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE TOTAL WILL BE LISTED NEXT WEEK, IN THE JULY 16TH BULLETIN, ALONG WITH THE JULY 9TH TOTALS. From the Pastor: Many thanks to those who have responded to the tithing appeal. Your generosity is deeply appreciated. From a Parishioner: Jesus has done so many good things for us in our lives...we are so grateful. Good Deed for the Week from an 8th Grader: I made a Happy Birthday Card for my Grandpa. REMEMBER GOOD SHEPHERD PARISH IN YOUR WILL REMINDER ALL PARISH ORGANIZATIONS are asked to submit their Meeting Schedule for the upcoming year in writing to the Parish Office ASAP beginning with your September dates. Deadline is JULY 10. Your dates will be entered on the Parish calendar on a firstcome, first-serve basis. MARK YOUR CALENDARS THE BLOODMOBILE will be in the Good Shepherd Parish Hall next Sunday, July 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Come out to support our Parish Blood Drive. Financial Snapshot You have no doubt been noticing in the Bulletin that Sunday giving is down significantly this fiscal year, which ended June 30. Through May 31 (last month of reports from the Diocese of Harrisburg), Sunday and Holyday collections are down $66,000 to last fiscal year and $75,000 down to May of 2015; not a good two year trend. It is worth noting that while the parish has 1,776 registered families, only approximately 700 give regularly via church envelopes or the online giving platform. The average weekly (Sunday) gift of regular givers is $25 or $1,300 per year. The parish has made great strides with satisfying our building debt, but it is important that the parish reverses this downward trend in Sunday giving. Please give serious consideration to recurring offertory donations online through WeShare or setting up check generation/mailing from your bank account. The parish is not charged a service fee when you set up donations through your financial institution. May God bless all of you for sharing your gifts to whatever extent. Father Phil Just in case you missed this article in the last bulletin: LIZ HECKMAN As the parish community of Good Shepherd Parish and Saint Theresa Parish, we welcome Liz Heckman to our staff. We hired Liz to be Director of our Life Teen Ministry which will begin by the end of August. She earned her BA at St. Francis University in Loretto, PA, and she earned a MA in Theology and a certificate in Pastoral Ministry at Villanova University in Villanova, PA. The Catholic Community of St. Matthias in New Jersey, most recently had the opportunity to work with Liz as she took on the role of Pastoral Associate for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. In the coming year, she will be entering into the beautiful Sacrament of Matrimony, to a man from our area, in Enola. Please join the clergy and staff of Good Shepherd and Saint Theresa Parishes in welcoming her to PA and our Parishes. WELCOME ABOARD, LIZ!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR RECENTLY BAPTIZED LEO RONIN CAPIL son of Michael and Jaycey (Schoenfelder) Capil SACRISTANS ARE STILL NEEDED We are in need of adult volunteers in good standing, who are willing to prepare the altar for the celebration of Mass. You would need to arrive approximately thirty minutes before the start of Mass. Training will be provided. If interested, please call the Parish Office at 761-1167. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS The Religious Education Office will be closed the week of July 10-14. If you need immediate assistance please contact the Parish Office. Religious Education Registration will take place after all Masses, the weekend of August 12-13. If you are unable to make the registration after the Masses, please stop by the office Monday-Thursday between 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. or call 737-8216. Forms were mailed home to students who have been enrolled in the past. You can simply mail them back with payment. All registrations are due no later than August 14. 10-12 Catechists and Core Members are needed for the 2017-2018 School Year. Please consider this important ministry to our youth of the parish. No experience in teaching is required. As a matter of fact most of our Catechists work in other fields. If the idea of teaching by yourself scares you consider partner teaching. Each year we have a few classes that do this and it works out very well. I guarantee you will grow in your faith as much as the youth do. If you need someone who is currently a catechist to speak with please let us know. They will all tell you how enjoyable it is. Materials and training are available through the Religious Education Office. Classes are held Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for grades 1-5 & 6:30-8:00 p.m. for grades 6-8. To learn more about this amazing opportunity contact Dr. Amanda Spahr at 737-8216 or aspahr@gsschpa.org Calling all Crab Lovers! We are very excited about spreading the word of this ministry to you and for you to join our family to help make a positive impact in our world for Christ through our international students. Let me tell you a little about the USA Program International Ministry. USA Program has been in operation since 1995, and we are a Texas Non-Profit, Tax-Exempt Corporation (501.C.3). USA Program is a family-operated Christian organization, and we sponsor an average 40 international students every year from South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. We place our International students all over the United States in Christian private schools and homes. Please visit our web site at www.usaprogram.org<http://www.usaprogram.org/> for more detailed information about our ministry. You can help us by sharing our international student ministry with your network of friends, family, and congregation. They can pray about by becoming a host family or recommending someone who is willing to host our international student, Miss Seohyun Ellen Kim, from S. Korea. She is 16 years old, Catholic and speaks good English. Miss Kim will be a junior who will be attending Trinity High School (Camp Hill) this school year. She has already been accepted to attend Trinity High School and she will be coming with her F-1 international student visa. She will be arriving to the United States on August 12th to Texas for the one week orientation preparation meeting, and then on August 19th (Saturday) she will be flying to Harrisburg, PA. USA Program will provide a monthly host family allowance (stipend) of $600.00 to help cover extra household expenses (groceries, electricity, water, etc.). The student brings her own spending money and is fully covered with medical and hospitalization insurance (up to $250,000.00). If you have questions or interest in hosting, please fill free to contact me via toll free 1-877-411-USA1 or by e-mail usaprogram@msn.com<mailto:usaprogram@msn.com> Going on Vacation this Summer?
