Under Roman law, the Jewish council did not have the authority to put someone to death. So they took Jesus to the Romans to be tried and executed. The soldiers then took Jesus to a hill, known as Golgotha, where He was crucified on a cross. However, many people believed that Jesus was the Son of God.
