Video College of Biblical Knowledge Class with Mark & Kitty Rackley. We meet in Fellowship Hall Sunday mornings at 9:30 and are doing On the Road with Jesus: Birth and Ministry. It is a four week program from Ben Witherington III (BW3). We did the birth of Jesus last week and we ll cover the ministry over the next three weeks. BW3 blends archeology with a tourist s look at the Holy Land, relating where he is with what Jesus did there. In December we will do a six week study called, The Path of Jesus. This sounds like the same thing, but it is more story telling. I don t know the British Theologian, and the Path is more a spiritual path than the literal Road that BW3 is on. 5

* Questions to the Parents In presenting your child for baptism, you announce your faith in Jesus Christ, and show that you want your child to study Him, know Him, love Him, and serve Him as His beloved disciple. Please show your purpose by answering these three questions. Who is your Lord and Savior? Jesus Christ. Do you trust in Him? I do. Do you intend for your child to be His disciple, to obey His word and show His love? I do. * Questions to the Congregation Our Lord Jesus Christ ordered us to teach those who are baptized. Do you, the people of the Church, promise to tell these children the good news of the gospel, to help these children to know all that Christ commands of us, and by your fellowship, to strengthen their ties to the household of God? Do you? We do. * A Promise From the Congregation In unison We the people of the Church, in receiving you, recognize and acknowledge our responsibility in the family of God. We are to be parents in Christ to the children of each new generation, including you. We promise to affirm and encourage your parents as they surround you with Christ s loving embrace; to speak and show the way of Christ, that you may see Christ in us and believe. We thank God for you and for the privilege of loving you with the heart of Jesus. 7

Bethany Church, March 26 th, 1827 Mr. Jeffrey, not being able to go to the church, Session met at his house and was constituted with prayer. Present. - John Nesbett John Hanna - Moses Middleswart - John Herriott Alexander Anderson Samuel Brice Samuel Collins Thomas Alexander, and William Jeffery, Mod. Session appointed Samuel Collins Assistant Clerk. Mr. Laird being present, and declaring himself ready to answer to the charge, exhibited against him by common fame, Session proceeded to examine witnesses in that case James McClemmons, being duly sworn, doth depose and say In the fall of the year 1826, I met with Mr. Laird. He asked me if I had seen John Wilkeson in the mill. I told him that I had. He asked me if I had seen him taking wheat out of his garner. I told him that I did not. He then said that Mr. Wilkeson had gone to the mill, and had taken of his wheat, without leave from him or any of his family. He then said that he would have to prosecute Wilkeson, for that, the people about Noblestown, threatened to prosecute him, if he did not prosecute Wilkeson. He then said that some said that he had taken six and some eight bushels of wheat out of his garner, but that he, Mr. Laird, for his own part, did not know how much he had taken; but, that there appeared to be a considerable want in the garner. This I think is the substance of what happened between Mr. Laird and me at that time. A few days after this I met with Mr. Laird. He just said that he had concluded it was best to say nothing about the business of which he had been speaking to me. I replied that I thought it was, for I supposed, that Mr. Wilkeson had no intention of stealing his wheat. He answered that he thought not, but thought he was wrong in taking it in the manner he had done, without leave. Question by Mr. Laird Did you not ask me who informed me that Wilkeson had taken my wheat? Answer I do not remember; but you certainly declared what I have stated on the subject. Q by Session Did Wilkeson ask you to go and see him measure the wheat? A He did not. Q by Session Did Wilkeson ask you for the half bushel? A I cannot say, he did or did not. To be continued next week with Mr. Isaac Walker s testimony.. 10

Lord, make us rich, very rich Lord, make us rich, very rich in mercy for those who have hurt us, in time for those who need us, in attention for those who need to be heard, in laughter and delight with all around us. Lord, make us rich, very rich in the beauty that our senses take in, and the beauty we give out; in the signs of heaven we see on earth, and the signs of heaven we leave on earth. Lord, make us rich, very rich in the things that count most, that is, the things that cannot be counted: faith, hope and love. For that richness we would become poor Amen. Rev. Dr. John G.
