GUIDELINES FOR THE AALIM PROGRAM The Aalim Program is purely an Islamic Course which entails advanced studies in the most reliable books of Aqaaid,Tafseer, Hadith and Fiqh. Students enrolled in this area of studies are required to show a high level of commitment and dedication to their studies, and must exhibit exemplary conduct and behavior. Students must act in accordance to the knowledge they achieve, and refrain from all that the Shariah has prohibited. In this regard, students are strictly prohibited from going to Cinema and other unlawful places. The attire of all students must conform to the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAS) in and out of school. Boys found to be compromising in their attire (as Aalim students) will be disciplined. Students are strictly prohibited from all un-islamic practices and must refrain from haram (unlawful) activities, actions and conduct.. Listening to music/singing, and attending gatherings where these are present, are all unlawful and students must refrain from these. In general, students of the Aalim Program must know that they are enrolled in a holy and sacred course of studies, and are therefore required to display a high level of Islamic conduct, both in and out of the school. Obedience to Allah and His Messenger (SAS) is of paramount importance in one s action and speech, and while in this course of studies, students must respond positively and respectfully to the Islamic training that is given at the Institute. Further to this, all students must take note of the fact that the Darul Uloom follows the creed of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah, and hence, all its teachings and practices conform to the Sunni Creed. Students at the Institute must follow this Creed, and are not allowed to preach/propagate against it. The Darul Uloom also strictly adheres to the following of the Madhahib of Fiqh and has accepted the four renowned Schools of thought to be upon the truth, since they all represent the Fiqh of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah. In this respect, the Darul Uloom follows the Madhhab of Imam Abu Hanifa in Fiqh, and has accepted this school of thought to be the established practice at the Institute, in matters of Salaah and other acts of Ibadah. Students enrolled at the Institute are therefore required to follow that which has been established at the Institute in this respect. Those who adhere to the Madhhab of the other Imams of Fiqh like that of Imam Malik, Imam Shafi and Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (AR) would be allowed to practice in accordance to the relevant Madhhab. However, students will be strictly forbidden from making Talfeeq (Concoction) which involves picking and
choosing between the schools of Islamic jurisprudence. This act of following the different opinions of the scholars of the Salafus Saliheen randomly, by accepting one at one time and another at another time, will not be tolerated from any student. Students must follow one specific Imam of Fiqh while enrolled as a student at the Darul Uloom. The knowledge disseminated at the Darul Uloom is based on the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah, which came down from the Salafus Saaliheen (the Pious Predecessors from among the Sahabahs, Tabi een and Tab ut Tabi een). Students therefore, can rest assure that the knowledge imparted by the Darul Uloom is consistent with the teachings, practices, verdicts and opinions of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah. Students are not allowed to criticize, condemn or speak against the following of the Imams of Fiqh. Students are also not allowed to bring such literature/books, and to preach, propagate or hold discussions on such teachings and ideologies that are in conflict with, and in opposition to the teachings adopted by the Darul Uloom as explained by the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah. Any of the above acts can lead to expulsion. Note:-(i) Punctuality of students is extremely important, and students whose absence from classes amount to 25% or more of the school year, will be required to repeat the year. (ii) Students must obtain an overall average of 55% of the school term and must pass all the subjects/kitaabs to be promoted to a higher class. (iii) Students who fail three subjects or less, will be required to do supplemental exams before being promoted to a higher class.
