National Symposium: Religious Education, Secularisation and Australian Catholic Schools 27-28 July 2017 Platinum Sponsor: Presented by: www.bbi.catholic.edu.au

Religious Education This National Symposium explores the relationship between secularisation and religious education in Australian Catholic schools. Religious education is a critical aspect of Catholic identity and as such needs to be both attuned and responsive to our social context. Pope Francis has spoken about this time as a change of era. In light of this, the symposium is aimed at exploring the implication of changes in the wider culture for religious education in Australian Catholic schools. Congratulations to BBI for bringing together an inspiring program and one that is relevant to all involved in the ministry of Catholic education. This symposium will provide a valuable opportunity for those involved in Catholic education to learn from one another and to collaborate and engage in informed dialogue. Pam Betts, Executive Director of Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Brisbane. What you will learn As a participant, you will gain many insights from the lectures and workshops delivered during this Symposium, including: an overview of key issues facing Religious Educators in the future; an outline of the impact of secularisation on the wider culture; an appreciation of approaches aimed at improving the quality of classroom Religious Education; greater awareness of the capacity of Religious Education in Australian Catholic Schools to be both propositional and relevant; an opportunity to network with other professionals and much more.
